Anyone else get screwed over by Microsoft's elite rebate?

I'm referring to the $50 rebate Microsoft offered about 2 months ago with the purchase of a new Xbox 360 Elite. I just received a 'polite' letter yesterday informing me that I did not include the e-rebate originally (Despite making sure to secure all of my documents together with large paper clips before mailing it). They told me I had 15 days to re-submit but they didn't return the receipt or the original proof of purchase either. Luckily, I made photocopies of everything but I have my doubts that I'm actually gonna get this rebate. Anybody else get the same BS or am I just unlucky?
