Anyone else not a fan of the new Target layout?

I'm not digging the new look of how Target has the game area set up. I miss the glass cases and before anyone says the games look more accessible they aren't they are still looked from the back so you'll still have to call for service to get your game. Don't know how many Cags have seen this change but what is your opinion on it?

I like the new layout actually. It stops stashers from taking the clearance games and putting them over in the Health & Beauty section till they reach 75-90% off. Everyone should have the same shot at getting a title that's on clearance.

Although I think I've still seen PSP, PS2 and DS titles on the clearance endcap, so they haven't completely stopped putting titles out there.

I don't like the new set up. Although it actually shows how few games they carry. My targets have the same game in about four to six spots instead of lots of different games

I agree, unless they start carrying a bigger selection of games, what was the point?

I'm also not a fan of the new setup, my local target actually has so few games in stock there's a bunch of holes in the displays.

Same here. I went back today and they had all the PS2, old ds, and old xbox 360 games sitting on a endcap marked as clearence.

Since they're still locked down, it still sucks. I don't care much what it looks like, all the targets I've been to it tends to be a pain to find someone to get a game for you as there's usually only one person working in the electronics department, and usually with a line of a few people needing to check out or get help.

Yup. It looks like a clearance store (anyone remember Pic N' Save?) as opposed to one of the higher-end general retail stores (compared to Kmart and Walmart at least).

Mine has also (apparently) stopped using the bright orange clearance tags. If a game is on clearance, it will be reflected on the standard yellow price tags. This is a mixed blessing because it's harder for everyone to find stuff so impulse clearance purchases by other people are presumably less common but I'm always paranoid that I'm missing something.

I wouldn't know, my local Target was taken out in the recent Tennessee flood. They were set to remodel next year, but with this they're just gonna start ASAP so they'll be closed awhile. Thankfully I never go in Target.

I dislike it as well. It didn't seem as organized. Nothing was in alphabetical order. Finally determined they did not even carry Alan Wake and left. And it sucks asking for service to get a game. So many times you have to wander around to get someone to page someone. System is outdated!

Yeah, I just don't get why they can put them in security cases like Best Buy so you can just take them to the register.

I mean there's usually DVD/Bluray boxed sets that cost more than games, and those are just sitting out to be taken to the register.

If they have games at the price you want then what does the layout have to do with anything? (despite how it sounded I wasnt trying to be a condescending dick hehe)

Me personally I couldnt care because I dont shop at target, especially not for games since I can find a better selection for cheaper at amazon usually.

Thats because the games are far more likely to get stolen and people get into the cases like nothing. I used to work at media play awhile back and we always found couple dozen empty cases shoved in shelves everyother day. People bring in wire cutters and cut into the case so they can open it and will use a lighter to melt the plastic enough to open. Always find cases in bathroom trash cans at the end of the night.

And honestly, the people who would outright steal that shit are usually not the types to steal a dvd box set worth of dvds to watch. Mostly just kids or early 20s idiots who just want games, they dont want to sit at home and watch the first season of charmed.

My only problem with the new setup is I still have to get some to unlock the case. It makes it a pain to pick games up while I work the overnights there.
I like it less partially because with the change came shittier clearance selection.

I like the displays better BUT I hate that (at least at my local Targets) that the clearance games stay in the displays and now get picked up faster.
These two reasons...

I really haven't followed the clearance thread but I also noticed that all of a sudden when they made this switch, they took out all the clearance games. I mean, a few Targets around here still had a healthy amount of stuff at $20 and up on clearance and it all just went away when they changed the cases last week or so. I figured they must have liquidated it all. I think across 3-4 stores I've seen one clearance game on the new display racks (I think it was GH Van Halen ). They still have PC and some PS2 clearance games sitting on an endcap at my local store, but I couldn't find any other clearance games. I was hoping that the one clearance game I saw on the rack was an anomoly, but the second quote above makes me think that's the way it will be from now on and that sucks.

With the demise of HWV and their $4.99 used game sale, the demise of Gamecrazy and their occasional wacky sales, Kmart no longer having decent clearances, Fry's also no longer having decent clearances, and Blockbuster liquidating most of their used game stock it is going to become a dreary time for retail clearance/uber-deals. I guess I'll just be driven more and more to online outlets like Amazon. I've been going in that direction already anyway, but this just accelerates it. Fortunately I have enough credit stored up at Gamestop and Amazon from the last few rounds of B&M sales/clearances to last me a while ;).

Was this the one in Hermitage?

I went to the store not to long ago and saw the new layout. I'd say it's a fail, but I don't bother shopping there much so it doesn't affect me.

my store doesnt have the new layout and it really doesnt look like they are gonna change anytime soon...doesnt matter though since the clearance at my store is always crappy
