i just picked up 1080 last night and wow! what a fun game! reminds me alot of cool boarders 1+2 (best boarding games ever)

i was reluctant to pick this game up because ive read a few reviews on it and most said "good game, but no SSX3" this had me worried, because i dont like ssx at all, so i just now went back and played the ssx3 demo and i still dont like it. the board physics feel all weird and junk and the voice in the music is annoying as hell.

anyone else think 1080 deserves more respect?

I haven't played many snowboard games... I've played a little bit of SSX and I was pretty bored... but I remember my friend having 1080 for the N64 and it was awesome. I remember we palyed so much until we unlocked that snowboarding panda... didn't make much sense but it was still really fun.

You need to edit your title from thing-think.

I've played it before and thought it was good but never really liked it very much.

EDIT: Never mind.

Don't judge SSX3 on the demo. I remember playing that demo and hating it, but the full version is alot different and I think it's awesome.

I liked 1080 because, like you, it's more like CoolBoarders. 1080 is more general snowboarding, where the SSX series is about getting "Tricky" and racking up points with insane moves.

both are great game IMO, 1080 has more of an arcade feel to me, and SSX is a little more tony hawk. does 1080 feel a little "SEGA" to anyone... well right now im hooked on the snowboarding game on my samsung phone, i can dodge snowpiles and do jumps.. totally radical.

cant wait till freaken winter so i can break-in my board. which i hardly used for 04.

I am assuming you are speaking of the 1080 for Gamecube, which i haven't played, but if it is anything like the N64 version i would hate it with a passion. I couldn't stand the button combonations to do tricks, it was rediculious. It is the same reason i don't like the amped series, i play video games to get away from reality, why would i want to do just normal snowboarding when i can do insane snowboarding?

Yeah, i played the first 1080 all the time but i hate the complex button combinations too. I would give the full version of SSX 3 a chance. I get such a great feeling from playing it, kind of relaxed and pumped at the same time.

i havent played the origional 1080 but i remember not liking it much, back then it was all about cool boarders and steep slope sliders!

Did you ever unlock the penguin board, and then use it with the panda?

... I did. 8)

I love SSX3 and the race down the mountain. It is very impressive. That being said, I like how 1080 puts more of an emphasis on racing and finding the best path. I think they are both good games, but despite both being snow boarding games they are very different. And the penguin board ruled.

How can you compare 1080 and SSX 3 if you haven't played both of them? The SSX 3 demo is not the same.

Like it was said before, 1080 is about racing, SSX 3 is more about tricks, a la Tony Hawk. I have 1080 coming in the mail this week, and I can't wait to try it out. SSX 3 is awesome though, totally worth the money that I paid for it when it first came out.

Are you smoking crack? It's OK, man, you can tell me. I completely understand if you were smoking the pipe, hit a really big rock, and you suddenly got so high that you actually thought Coolboarders was good.

You probably think SSX Tricky is good, too.

I haven't played the new 1080, but I loved the one for N64. I just picked it up for the $10 deal though so I'll get my shot at it. I have SSX Tricky and enjoy it but don't play it as much as I played 1080 for 64. Ijust picked up SSX 3, but haven't played it yet. In the reviews I've read, it said that the GC 1080 is actually a step down from the N64 game.

A friend and I were addicted to the original...I personally loved it and if the 2nd is anything like it, I'd grab it in a heartbeat. The button combo was difficult, but if you ever did pull off that 1080 it made you feel all the better.

Edit: I didn't like CoolBoarders or SSX (all 3) that much...
