Anyone ever watch the show "Rescue Me"?

I picked up seasons 1 and 2 at FYE for $9.99 each A/R back in May and just got around to watch them yesterday. I got up to the 4th episode in S1 and I must say the show is quite good. Many of the things that happen are so unexpected thus keeping the show fresh. If you aren't familiar with the show, it is about the New York Fire Department post 9/11. What do you guys think of the show?
 
I've seen a couple episodes on TV. It's a great show. I can never keep up with those kinds of shows though. I try, but then I'll miss an episode and be completely lost.

keep an eye open of the marathon. they tend to do marathons of the series on fx and thats one of them i know gets the marathon treatment all the time. and yeah it is a great series with a great cast which is a rarty in tv these days. i think it sucks
they killed off his brother in the show and you dont see much of their cousin the preacher
but eh its still a good show.

i think that has alot to do with tommy being sober and acting like a pussy. he let his wife and kids run all over him its pretty sad but i guess it makes some sense after what happened with hi son and all.
 
I enjoyed the first season, but they ratcheted up the twists, turns and emotional trauma so much that the 2nd season went into very unrealistic and cliched territory. The show still has its high points, however, I have found that it has gotten very predictable in numerous occasions. Moreover, and this isnt a spoiler in any regard, but there is a part in Season 4 where they are going into a burning building and a lady just happens to be giving birth at the exact moment they show up. I am sure that has happened in the history of fire fighting but its just far too much of a coincidence.

Also the dialogue isnt as acerbic and wry as it used to be. There are numerous instances where there could be some intelligent humor to be had, but it just falls flat.

if youre looking for great humor check out entourage. the first season was a bit slow but each new season has gotten better and better especially the present season ive never laughed more at a show.

That's pretty much the same story for me.

I used to watch it all the time, then I missed several episodes and got thrown completely out of the loop. I didn't see much of the new season.. maybe later on.

That has Jeremy Piven in it right? I saw one episode of it that featured the main actor from Nero Wolfe and it seemed alright, maybe I will check into it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I have to agree that this season has fallen flat. It started out really good, but has gotten progressively worse. 4 seems more in line with season 2 as both were not even close to being as good as 1 and 3.

I don't agree with you on the Shield season 5, but that is for another discussion.

Indeed it is another discussion but I should clarify. The writing for Shield Season 5 with the plot revolving around Vic and company with everything they have done in the past four years culminating into one big clusterfuck, that was pure gold. But the secondary stories failed to keep my interest such as the pimp who inadvertently taught Dutch how to "game," the hot female police officer, etc.

As for Season 6, I've stated my view on it. The best part of Season 6 for me was just seeing how damn loyal Ronnie was in numerous occasions. No matter what had transpired, he stays by Vic no questions asked, because he believes that is the better option for him, Vic and the department.

he has become a big time pussey, and his dialog this season isn't funny.
 
I love it one of my favorite shows. I feel this season is just fine. I love how the show will take you into a sad, or dark moment the follow that with laughter.

Like in the first episode this season
When all the main characters were in a building, the floor collapsed and they were falling into a fiery nothing of a pit. Only to land on the outside of the building on a pile of teddy bears. :lol:
 
Well I finished both my season sets (1 and 2) and I enjoyed the show a lot. I didn't think season 2 was bad like some people said. There was something exciting happening in every episode. I am curious to how season 3 will play out but unfortunately I don't have the set. Anyone know of a deal on it?

yeah hes an agent and this is definetly his best role ever. the first season was slow but each one after has gotten better and better. its probably the best series on hbo left. this new season is awesome funniest shit ive seen in a while on tv but i still worry hbo will screw it over like alot of great series ( deadwood, carnivale, sopranos, 6 feet under). i dunno wtf is with that channel but they never end series right or they cancel them just as theyre getting good.
 
Great first season, but the show has kinda pulled a Nip/Tuck and gotten progressively worse. The less "realistic" the show gets, the less I'm interested. Each episode is still good for a couple of pretty good laughs though
