I just called them up and was having a hard time getting information from the employee. I first asked if they were selling GTA4 and she said yes. Then I asked if they do a trade-in service and she said if you bring in 4 games that they retail at $19.99 or higher, I can get the game (GTA4) for free. Do they mean $19.99 brand new or used? And I'm assuming they would also have a straight trade-for-credit option as well? I want to trade in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and I've heard it's worth $28 there. It just seemed a little confusing to me. Can anyone clear any of this up? Thanks very much.

Actually, not a great idea as Blockbuster operates differently in Canada and no one in that thread is going to be able to help him, really. I know the people in this forum were discussing these "free after trade-in" deals before (I remember being a bit jealous that BB Canada was offering them). Blockbuster/Gamerush in the U.S. has never had such a thing. But otherwise, OP, I assume you can just trade for regular credit as well - I'm sure it operates nearly the same as the U.S. stores except the trade-in values are sure to be different (and the main thread is mostly about the trade-in values so it won't help you there either).

1. I believe it's 19.99 used. What's confusing is the BBV I go to, they take games that they can retail (used) for 14.99. What I think they do is take games whose TIV is half what they can retail for used at the very minimum.
For example, since your store said 19.99, they would take in games at $10+ TIV, that would be applied to the Trade 4 Get GTA4 (or any game in the promo) for free. They then take your game, and sticker it at double the price (usually the case) to put on the shelves.

2. Yes sir.

Hope that helped :)

Unlike EB, the CREDIT BBV gives is NOT TAX FREE!

This is against Canadian law....someone should report them because this is illegal. You cannot charge tax on trade credit.

Well thanks for the replies guys, here is my mission report. I went in with about 9 games, they gave me the $28 credit on GT5 which is great because EB told me $13, and they offered $3 for every other game. I said no thanks to the others, but got $28 down toward a purchase of GTA4, not bad right? $5 investment on the game, $28 back, $23 profit. That's cheap ass.

About the tax thing, I didn't notice that but I'll just ignore it cause I don't plan to do a lot of trade-ins with them, so it's not a big deal to me.

What really sucked is that google maps told me it would be a 1.5km walk to the store, so I headed out, turned out google was wrong and it was a 4.5km walk. And the mistake was Blockbuster's, they have the wrong address on their store search website. I was so pooped I took the bus home.
