Anyone have an idea about any good LOCAL co-op games?

It really pisses me off that games like Crackdown only have online co-op...am I the only one who ever plays locally anymore?

Anyway, I'm going to stay with some family for a week. My cousins are going to be there and I want a decent co-op game for me and him to play during downtime.

My cousins are all under 13 so I don't want the game to be too scary (like Bioshock). It can be inappropriate just not demonic. Something like Halo 3 is perfect, but I just beat that on co-op with another cousin the other day. If worse comes to worse I'll just beat it again on a different difficulty.

GoW I heard has good co-op but I want to wait for GoW2 at this point, rather than outplaying GoW1 and it not being fresh for GoW2.

I own:

Halo 3
Mass Effect
Forza 2
Marvel Ultimate Alliance
Guitar Hero III
Scene It
Call of Duty 4
Assassin's Creed
Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2
Halo 2
Ninja Gaiden Black

I know you've already dismissed it, but you should reconsider GOW. It fits your criteria perfectly, and it's an awesome game.

The Lego games (Lego Indiana Jones & Lego Star Wars) have great co-op play as well.

GoW would be a little over the top violent for 13 year olds I would think...

Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and Lego Star Wars both have really fun local coop.

I haven't even tried Marvel yet, that could be a nice one to play considering I already own it (just got in the mail today).

Lego Starwars/Indiana Jones is an excellent idea. Those are still kind of expensive though. :/

I heard Army of Two was crap?

Try the demo if you're skeptical about it. I don't know who said Army of Two was crap, it actually got some good reviews.

FIFA World Cup 2006
Fight Night Round 3
Gears of War
Lego Star Wars (Complete Saga or the Trilogy)
NBA 2K8
Table Tennis (surprisingly fun)

XBLA
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Soulcalibur
Streets of Rage 2
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

I thought Army of Two wasn't very good. I would've never finished it had it not had the local co-op.
