I have had a freshwater tank a couple times, and I figure I might try a salt water tank for once. Prob only a small one of 8-15 gallon. So i was wondering if anyone here has any tips or wants to share their experiences of managing a salt water tank.

I did have a 55 gallon for about 5 years. With saltwater, bigger is better. It's a delicate balance of salinity, pH, and many other things. The bigger the tank (or tank+sump), the less of an impact a change will make. With an 8-15 gallon tank, you might get away with having one tiny fish, any more would probably die quickly. I could ramble for a while, but there are some great resources online. Checkout thereeftank.com.

Don't know why you bumped it, magikman nailed it. And make sure what you put in there is compatable as saltwater needs an ecosystem and to make it easier, make sure you pick of fish and sponges that keep a balance (though with the small tank your talking about, you really don't have to worry about this).

But like I said, magikman nailed it

Be prepared to drop a large amount of money. I've looked into setting up a saltwater tank and it is expensive as hell. The best setups for saltwater tanks are tanks that are drilled and have a sump with live rock and a skimmer.

My boyfriend's sister has one. She has two little fish (I think she added something else recently though, and the two she does have are supposed to grow) and a big ass tank. Definitely get a big tank even if you only want a couple fish; it's better for them since many fish can grow a lot and if the tank is not big enough, they cannot grow normally.
