Anyone Know alot about Processors?

I just upgraded my motherboard and processor to an AMD Opteron Dual Core 2.2 Ghz processor and the A8V Asus motherboard. After I reinstalled Vista on the box everyhtings been slow and my CPU Useage will not drop below 75% Capacity at rest. I dont get why (and before anyone just says because it is vista, before i upgraded my system vista was more stable on my box then xp was. and now xp does not want to recognize that i have a SATA harddrive and i cant install XP anymore) When i booted up my Ubuntu harddrive with the box the cpu usage was at like 2% and the computer was flying but i need Vista to play my games. Anyone have any ideas?
