Anyone know if the Singstar PS2 disc swap feature works for JP PS3s?

So I'm thinking of buying a Japanese PS3, but I just realized that I have a load of Singstar games, both PS3 and PS2. I know that backwards compatibility is not necessary to utilize the disc swap for Singstar, but does anyone know if a Japanese PS3 would allow you to do the disc swap for American versions of games like Singstar Legends, Pop, etc.? I know the Japanese system would have no problem playing Singstar Vol. 1 and 2 for the PS3 since there is no region coding, but I'm curious as to whether it would region block the PS2 Singstar games...
 
Hey man! Thanks a lot for the help. Darn... that's another downside of getting a Japanese PS3 that I hadn't considered...
