Anyone know where to buy a new X-Box?

CAGiversary!
Does anyone know of any place where they still have new original X Box consoles for sale? Any info would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Does anyone know if there's any GameCrazy stores in the New York/Long Island area? I've tried a lot of the off the wall places like sears and the EB in the crappy Mall near me.

Hey guys. I'm a newb when it comes to Xbox 1 and im also interested in possibly buying a new one.

A couple questions though.... I know this may seem like a dumb question but is xbox live still available for xbox 1? if so, do u see microsoft taking away that feature soon so that everyone would have to move on to 360?

The questions may seem dumb, but I don't know anything about xbox and i'd appreciate a response. The main reason i'm thinking of buying one is because the games are so cheap nowadays.

Someone on SD said they found an XBox bundle for $78 at their local Sam's Club. YMMV on that because I haven't seen an XBox for sale in Sam's Club for a while and no one else found it.

Live is still available. You can get the 2-month trial codes in lots of games. Microsoft will auto-renew you for $50/year after that. It's getting hard to find the old subscription cards that worked with Xbox 1, but keep your eyes peeled for clearances. I got two years at $20 each at Toys R Us.

I should warn you though, that Live is getting pretty dead for most games. You can still play Halo 2, and most of the really popular or recent games, but a lot of "Live" titles are dead. Check out MajorNelson's top 10 list for a taste of what's still going.

I'd say just bite the bullet. Xboxes are practically being given away on ebay, i mean really, it's fucking ridiculous. Same with PS2s. If you EVER wanted to bundle up on last gen consoles, do it now.

Not only is Live still going, but in case you didn't know you can play against people with 360s even if you have the original Xbox. As ma said, Halo 2 is probably the most popular game for this.

Sorry to resurrect an older topic... I still cannot find a new X-box console. Any CAG'ers in the New York/Long Island area seen any?

Thanks!!

I think as far as NYC metro area you may be SOL, I haven't seen any on the Jersey side of the hudson in quite some time. This goes for Sears, Targets, Best Buys, Circuit Cities, blah, blah.....

at this point in the NY/NJ area your gonna be hard pressed to find a new Xbox. I'd reccomend buying a used one, cos you can check which dvd drive it has. I'd also check Craigslist for your local area. I bet theres lots of people wanting to sell their xbox collections to raise money for 360's or PS3's. You might even find a modded one.

Thanks to all that posted. I tried fye last night, no luck. It's looking like used is the way to go. I'll hold off a little longer and hopefully get a price drop if I go that route.

I thought I saw new bundles at Costco and Sam's Club, though that might have been a while in the past.

I know when I bought my replacement Xbox in Oct 2005, it was one of the few non-bundle ones left that I could see at any retail store. By end of 2005, I didn't see any non-bundle ones.

They should really lower the price of the Forza Bundle, $180 is ridiculous for that since it's like paying $30 for Forza and it can easily be had for under $10 new (and in a lot of cases, under $5 new)

buy mine. It is a samsung drive.

i really should put this back up in the trade forum.

oh the system has never had a DRE.

Would Gamestop/EBgames or Gamerush be my best chance of finding a brand new Xbox in-stores these days?

I'm more interested in the games like Shenmue II and the Halo games, but also the ones not on the backwards compatible list. Should I wait for the list to be complete and buy an XB360 when it is cheaper or pick up an Xbox now?

Considering the MS is pretty much giving up on BC on the 360, you're better off looking for a Xbox. As for a new system, good luck, I haven't seen one in months. If you can't get one, you're better off buying one from EB/Gamestop with a 1 year warranty(avoid the ones in a mall, they don't check the systems). That way if it craps out, you can just swap for a different one. Plus it's better than arguing with someone you bought it from online cause it gives DREs.
