Anyone really good with photoshop wanna make $ by creating a band logo/cd cover?

The Jones

CAGiversary!
Name of the band: Divine Interference (we are a Christian Rock/Praise and Worship Band)

Summary of the name: Friday night, me and two of my buddies were at our church playing around with some music we wrote. It was pretty late and a guy at our church who has his own local TV show was in the church doing some stuff and heard us playing. He went to where we were at and said that we sounded really good and he wanted to use our stuff for the show. He recorded us doing two songs. Hence the name, Divine Interference. We were just playing and this happened. Today, he said he was doing a show in SC in March and asked us to come play with him.

What the members want to see in the logo: The logo is pretty open for any way. That's the story above there; maybe someone has an idea in their mind for a logo they could share/make. We want a melow yet one-that-will-catch-the-eye logo that we can work with by putting it on shirts and what have you. It doesn't have to be very big. Just something original please.

CD Name we have in plan: We wanna title the first CD "The Glass Castle". The message behind this is, no matter how big you get, the slightest little thing can knock the greatest establishment down to the ground. Everything is so very fragile nowadays.

What the members want to see in the CD Cover: If anyone has seen the modern day Rock Christian Band CD covers, everyone of them stands out. We like the CD covers like the bands The Classic Crime, Leeland, The Spill Canvas, Wavorly, As Cities Burn, etc. have. These band's covers can be found on Amazon. If you take a look, you can see it's got that melow-painting sort of feel to them. Nothing to loud thats gonna drive people away if they're looking on a CD rack. Hopefully, that'll give you an idea.

The picture I have in mind is maybe a transparent/light blue castle sitting on a hill. Maybe the sun in the sky and a few grey clouds in the sky along with a few birds. Maybe have a few birds perched on the walls of the castle. A lof of secenery.

If you cant get the transparent castle, the members said something about a sand looking castle. Sand eventually turns to glass and it can easily be knocked down just as a glass one could. Just a thought.

So, guys, any help/input/artwork would be greatly appriciated. I will pay whoever has the best logo/cd cover designs out of the people that participate. I'd like to have everyone who can help out send in their work before the last week in Feb.

Thanks a lot guys! :D

I'm going to keep an eye on this thread.

CD cover suggestion: A photograph of a windshield with a small crack in it might be a good idea. Everyone knows how those tiny things spread out over time, eventually covering the entire windshield. If nothing pans out here and you need an immediate logo, that would work in my humble opinion.

Watch the Faith+1 South Park episode a few times. Cartman tells everything you need to know about Christian album covers and songs.

Sounds like you're looking for the sort of thing you might see on Threadless a lot. There's drawings all over the place there that have a painted feel to them, but don't use a lot of colors. It's like a cell-shaded game where 3-4 colors can make up a character's shirt, but the overall effect is kind of sharp but mellow.

I'm fairly certain Mox is good at this sort of thing, since it screams out vector graphics (with layers) to me.

I could be wrong, but that's what I gather from your comments. It's a popular style at the moment - I see it in commercial and print ads all the time. Kind of a homespun sort of look.

Magehart: That was the first thing I thought of also.

Yeah, Strell. A lot of those bands are using those unique colors that blend nicely to the eye for this type of stuff.

Like I stated, check out those bands on Amazon to see their covers. You'll get the feel.

A lot of the bands like that are using scenery/crazy random designs too for merchandise and that's growing on me. Just no skulls. Lol. Check out Zambooie.com for some ideas. I'd love to see this turn out well.

He's right up there. I meant Moxio.

Dunno if he'll do anything, I just recall him being a vector artist wizard. I wouldn't PM him about it, personally speaking.

I already posted in the thread.

Unfortunately, my small-town skills couldn't hope to take on a job of this caliber. I'm sure you'll find someone who is good enough, though.

Have you considered contacting any of the "pros" on Threadless? Venturing to graphics forums might net you premium results, as well.

Oh sorry. haha. What are these pros?

And whats some forums that could help me?

I have all these ideas in my mind, I just dont have the ability to make them, lol.

Took me over 4000 hours in MSpaint...

I'm not sure if you've already found something that you're going to use, but I just stumbled onto this thread tonight, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Not really sure if this is even what you're looking for, but I sort of like it.

Cheers,
make sure nobody has rights or you have the rights to those photos.
That's a good point, actually; you will want to do that. It was on my computer, and I'm pretty sure it is one of the ones that I took in NYC, but you should check to make sure, I provide no guarantees. ^^;

Also, thanks , Poor.
