Didn't see a topic on it so I thought I'd make one.

I'm going to check it out tonight, looks really good from what I've seen.

Anyone else going to go see it?

****EDIT**** 4/11

http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.com/what-went-so-wrong-with-grindhouse

Harvey Weinstein told me this morning that he's "incredibly disappointed" with the half-than-expected $12 mil box office for Grindhouse released on Easter Weekend (a controversial move itself). So much so, that he's considering abandoning the double feature as a single feature concept and re-releasing the Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez movie around the U.S. "in a couple of weeks" as two separate feature-length movies with additional footage put in.

Just got back from it. Very good movie. After seeing Planet Terror, though, Death Proof drags in the beginning. Gets better at the end though.

Oh, you're cute.

I saw it today at noon with a few friends. The "commercials" in-between were a riot.
I saw it last night. Planet Terror and the trailers are awesome, Death Proof is a bore and a half.
Agreed. Although I thought Death Proof was better towards the end... but the first half hour was boring. I went to the bathroom during that time.

I think my favorite trailer was Don't. It probably would've been Thanksgiving if I hadn't seen it already. Zombie's trailer I didn't really like, though.

I don't understand, what kind of film is this? I've seen two very different previews: something about biblical plagues and something about a woman with a gun-leg and something about a killer in a car? :whistle2:?

It's a double feature. The one about Biblical plagues, you're mistaking for another recent release. The first film is by Rodriguez, about a small town overtaken by zombies (the one with the gun-leg woman). The other is the killer stuntman, which is by Tarantino.

I'm probably going to see it Tuesday morning, so I know that I'm the only soul in the theatre.

There's a nice reference to Rob Zombie that I think you'll like.

First movie was excellent. Loved it! Death proof...lame slow and annoying. I was so hyped up after seeing the first movie thinking they are saving the best for last...nope. Anyway, for the most part, its a must see.

Werewolf Women of the SS?
I wish they'd've put Death Proof first.
Me too. It was okay, but after a little more than an hour and a half going by already it just dragged.

I especially couldn't take the scene with all the women (Rosario Dawson's crew) yapping in the diner.

The fact that you'd already been sitting for 90 minutes or more, coupled with the fact that Planet Terror was so great and action packed, made it so boring, IMO. I was hoping it'd really pick up
When he killed the first chick in his car
, but then it just went on to drag more. The last 15 minutes was good, but I didn't like the end too much. Sorta... abrupt. Wasn't what I expected.

Personally, I hated the women talking in the car.

Not until next week, but yes.
No I won't, since I don't like movies.
Man, good thing you posted in here then.

I'm surprised there's someone other than me that's NOT going to see this. Usually everyone is happy to fund Tarantino's drug/acoholic problems when he could use rehab and an english class... I'd say movie making classes too but obviously that will only get me flamed. lol

I thought when I heard about Snakes on a plane coming out we had hit bottom but I was wrong... I thought again we had hit bottom when I heard about Black Snake Moan... but now... maybe we've finally hit bottom?

No, no quoting him just gives him the attention he was whoring for in the first place.

Anyways on topic, I'm checking it out next week. How do you all rank Death Proof with tarantino's other works?

Had my wisdom teeth taken out Thursday morning. I got Percocet. IM feeling ok though. Was gonna see the latest showing tonight but Ive decided to wait until Saturday. Seein the 7:45. How long was it? And how crowded was your theaters?

Best $8.50 I've ever spent. I dpn't know how that movie got past the MPAA with an R rating.

I don't get why nobody really liked Death Proof. I thought it was great. Not as good as Planet Terror, but still great. What I didn't expect was the whole movie to be so funny. Ed Wright's ad was hilarious.

"DON'T DON'T DON'T DON'T DON'T DON'T DON'T"
saw it

was awesome

i liked death proof better

tire to the face was awesome
That indeed was indeed awesome. Best part of Death Proof.

Loved it, especially missing reels. Death Proof rocked you are all crazy. Tarantino makes you wait but he can deliver a hell of a payoff

I also liked the missing reels. I thought it was hilarious when
They did the missing reel in the sex scene of Planet Terror and it cuts to the burning bar
and
After they crash, the New Zealand chick popping out of the forest. "I'm okay!"

I'm probably going to see this again sometime. Definitely a DVD buy.

Jesus just got back, what a show. This is why I love movies, absolutely fantastic, with Tarantino's being light years ahead of Planet Terror. Both were awesome though, as well as the fake trailers and the whole experience. 9.5/10, probably the best movie I've seen this year
I just want to know what happens to the
I was wondering that too.
I was wondering that too.
Yeah it definitely ended really abrubtly, but reflecting upon it, that was the perfect time to end; keep us wanting more and don't bore us by going back there and showing that. Perhaps that'll be a good DVD extra though

I love Tarintino (and kinda like Rodriguez), but for some odd reason, I just don't have any interest in seeing this one, even with it's unique set-up. Maybe I'll catch a matinee sometime next weekend.

Probably the advertising, which didn't really entice me either; you should definitely check it out though, especially considering you're in Austin, because both movies are shot and set there

And also, of course, they're fantastic and Death Proof is as good as anything Tarantino's done (and probably better than some of the ones he's done)

This shit was crazy.

blood death car chases zombies shit blowing up machine guns doom heads flying off = sjdfljsdhfljsdhlfjhads;fglg

See this movie or DIE.

One word for both: brilliant.
Seriously, Planet Terror was filled with countless laugh out loud moments while Death Proof had some of the best pay offs ever. I thought the ending was perfect.
The abruptness of it was too fucking good, after having the tables turned on the "bad guy"

I loved when they
squished his head.

Thumbs up, but Death Proof was way too fucking slow in parts. Old Quentin isn't nearly as good at writing dialogue as he thinks he is. Otherwise, good stuff, and seeinf Fergie in Planet Terror was good enough. Fergilicious, bitch.

Also, the fake previews were fucking FANTASTIC. Seriously, Machete and THANKSGIVING had me rolling.
