I'm about to buy a new PC, and one of the things I am looking forward to is the ability to watch all my various movies on my television, through my 360 and the Media Center Extender. Has anyone tried this? I think, if it works, it's gonna make my 360 even more awesome.

Yeah, it works! At the time I had my 360 in my bedroom but my main computer on the other side of the house and it was cool being able to watch movies on my bedroom TV. Once I had everything hooked up it went fine. Once major glitch though...you will have to have Win XP Media center edition...otherwise it won't work...at all. I personally don't see any difference between regular XP and XP MC except for the Media center app, but maybe i'm wrong.

Oh yeah, make sure you disconnect your computer from your 360 when playing stuff online (through the 360 system options) otherwise you'll get crazy lag!!

Edit: MC extender is only if you want to view pics or stream music from your PC. For movies you MUST use WinXP Media Center OS. Took me a while to figure this out...

I've used the media extender option with the 360 and xp media center edition.... running hd quality video my wireless setup just cause major frame skipping, but have since finished adding a wired network to my house and it works great. live tv, music and video all are smooth without interuption.

I just got my 360 over the weekend mainly for use as a media center extender. Working great so far. Just make sure you do some research because there are limitations (so far) to what type of files and codecs the 360 can play.

My next step is to get a hdtv tuner card so I can stream live TV and get rid of the Comcast stb completely.
