Applying Gift Card Balance to an Amazon Pre Order

So I have a Destiny Ghost Edition pre ordered at Amazon. I now have some gift cards I want to apply to the order. Will that in any way screw the order up or put me lower on the priority list for delivery of it? I've read something along those lines before but not sure if GC balance had anything to do with it. Basically I just want to use my GC and not get screwed out of my Ghost Edition.

It shouldn't cause a problem.  Amazon should take off your existing gift card balance when you select to use it for payment.  It'll list it as pending in your gift card transactions until they process it & ship the order.

Although that's how it's always worked for me.  But it might be different if they changed it recently.

Just to update I applied the gift card balance and it changed my delivery estimate from release day to Thursday the 11th and I can't change it back...so yeah, don't do this.

There is no reason why adding gift cards to an Amazon order should change its priority in any way. You're paying for the item in part or in whole with Amazon legal tender, so you shouldn't be slighted for that.

Also, I have seen delivery dates change for items and end up being conservative estimate, with shipping happening before the estimate.

I would talk with CS in a chat session and raise some hell with them over it, making them upgrade it to One Day Shipping at no cost.

Thanks for the push, I was just going to let it go (I have another on order anyway) but I contacted them and they pointed me to a link for release day delivery order changes where it says:

Note: Making changes to your delivery address may affect your order's eligibility. If you need to change your order, we recommend placing a new pre-order for the item and then canceling your previous order. Only do this after you're sure you can choose Release-Date Delivery or another applicable shipping option on the new order.

I told him that talks about changing the delivery address and I didn't see why adding a GC balance with plenty of time left before the order ships should effect the delivery date. I told him the least it could do is give you a warning that it may happen. He changed it to release day delivery for me though so I should be set.

I'm glad it worked out, though I have done numerous preorders over the years and paid for a good number of them in part or in whole with a gift card.  Never had any changes in shipping timetable happen, ever, so there was no reason why it should have changed timeframes.

Actually now that I think about it, that's happened to me too.  Where I've pre-ordered something in the past, apply a gift card to the pre-order a couple days after placing the order and it bumps the delivery date.  Not sure if it's a glitch in their system or if it bumps the date for any change to the order.  If it the 2nd one, then they need to update their policy or fix it.

But glad to see that CS was able to fix it for you.
