Approval process for first deal post?

Day after day on CAG, we see people posting non-deal related threads in the deal forums. I know we can always pass over it and wait for it to be moved, but I feel having an approval process similar to SD would really help mitigate this issue.

For those who are unfamiliar with how it works, if a user is attempting to post their first thread in the deal section, then it would need to be approved by a moderator. After that, they are okay. A user does not need to be approved if they are posting in an already created thread, or if they are creating a thread in a different forum.

I think this will save new users from being flamed to hell, while avoiding have existing users being annoyed at yet another user asking for a 48-hour trial in the deal forums.

Opinions?

As a fellow 2003'er, you know that if you snooze you lose. Waiting for the approval process could cause a potentially new deal to slip through the cracks. If you use the "report post" button the mods are pretty quick about sorting things out otherwise. As for the flaming, you get that in legit deal threads as well. Nothing's ever going to curtail that.

IMHO.

2003'er here too. I agree with Banky. Some of our best deals have come from first post users. I already feel like our mods are stretched thin as is...

I always feel too intimidated to actually use that though because as soon as I click on it there's that line that's like "remember. this is going to send out an e-mail to the entire mod team" or whatever. I feel afraid that I'm going to end up banned for using it or something.

And, if the mods are pretty quick about sorting out things from the report post button, why not have the first deal mod be the same way. When someone tries to post a deal for the first time, an e-mail is sent to the entire mod team? Just an idea. I don't really care one way or another. I try to avoid the deals forum most of the time so I don't spend too much money.

Because, that'd be like reporting all first deal posts, regardless of if they were fraudulent or "not deals" or whatever, whereas with the current system, only the bad ones get reported. It'd definitely result in more work for the mods. 'Sides, it's not like only first deal posts are bad deal posts.

The mods wouldn't ban you for trying to help out when they probably get enough emails from dumb people that used it for stupid reasons.

They wouldn't do that because it's not their job to moderate things in that kind of detail.
