Arcade machine

JamesH1985

CAGiversary!
Hey, i am in search of an arcade machine, i have checked ebay and most of them are over 1000. I dont care what game it is or the age of it etc, i am mostly interested in the cabinet, any ideas people because if i cant find one soon i may have to try to build my own and it wont be pretty

Check for listings for arcade auctions, and also if there's a Craigslist in your general vicinity, check there as well.

Check eBay, like, constantly. That's how I got my Vs. Super Mario Bros machine for $125, and I was able to go and pick it up as well.

Try going to a Super Auction. They are auctions that only have arcade machines/slot machines, etc. I was able to snag a working, great condition EnduroRacer by Sega for $10! It's a great place to pick up some arcade machines.

hey, whats a supergun, and where/when are super auctions

I checked the namco site and there were only a few in my area, and when i called all were sold. I've been on ebay too, but no luck yet.

However there was one arcade machine for sale on craigslist which i sent a email about. thanks for the responses

here is the best thing to do.

Go to yahoo and serach for videogame auctions or pinball auctions. There is a site called superauctions I believe they have a site and it tells when a auaction is coming to your town. GO to the auction. I baught pinballs for 500 and arcade games for 100.

Last month I bought a 4 player avengers arcade game for 400. Load it in a truck and off you go.

see thats why I need to read before I post! :) Anyways this is a great place to find close by auctions. YOu can get some good stuff. Just make sure you get there early to check the stuff out before the auction begins. If you get there when its allreday going you may get some not so great item. They go real real fast. Don't go to the bathroom if somethjing you want is like three away. They had slot machines go for 15 bucks! Bastard baught 300 of them and didn't leave any for any one else!!!!

Wow, that superauctions site is pretty neat. There is one coming to Cherry Hill, NJ on April 30th. I just might have to check it out. How do the auctions work when you go there and is there an admission fee?

thanks guys, i doubt i do the auction thing, but i found the arcadecontrol website very helpful

i got an email respone back from that guy selling the arcade machine, its a wwf wrestlefest arcade macine, he said "Electronics work fine but the screen started to blur over the last couple of weeks and needs fixing. It may just need adjustment or maybe a new monitor" and " i am also including a brand new unused extra PCB Wrestlefest electronic computer board and wires that I had bought off of Ebay in case thats the problem"

anyhoo its pretty close to where i live, about an hour away and he said he would let it go for 200 bucks. I'm calling a friend tonight to see if i can use his truck.

A supergun is basically the guts of an arcade cabinet, set to hook up to a game (exp. beneficial if you want to play SNK games, as you could get a supergun and an MVS harness and get to play the cheaper games) to your TV. This means you do not have to have the space for an arcade but can play the games.

check massystems.com and look at theirs, and then I would check neo-geo.com for recommendations on the best one

i would suggest builiding you're own.. the plans aren't that difficult.. and you can just run emulated software (be sure you pay the license fees ).. i'm looking to build a cabinet for all my consoles.. and its looking like 200 bucks will get me a custom cabinet (with arcade sticks).. so.. it all depends on how ambitious you want to be.. also.. look at malls where they have arcades and on them is usually a machine vender.. call them up and see if they have any older less popular or older ones that dont make money (which seeems to be any non-tekken non DDR type machine).. and by all means just look around on ebay and locally... shipping usually kills though so thats why i suggest "locally"

The last time I went (pretty sure it's still the same) it was free to bid on anything. The setup is just like a regular auction; the crowd moves from machine to machine, the auctioneer powers up the game, and the bids commence. The nice thing about these auctions is you can bring an extension cord and get there a few hours early. Then you can test each game...for free! Once you have won an arcade machine, you can either stay for the rest of the auction, or pay and leave right away. All you basically need is a truck, an extension cord, and some money. They were very fun to go to, and you see a TON of great new and old games. I really recommend them if you are looking for a good deal. Slot machines sold in the $100 range in many cases! I plan on making a trip over to another one soon. The closest is about two hours away, but they are worth it. Yeesh, with this long speel, I make it sound like I work for them! :D

You make it sound like a lot of fun! I might go just for the hell of it. I have no where in my house to put an arcade machine, but I'd love to check out the stuff anyway. If they were selling the 6 player X-Men arcade game though, I'd probably go nuts and do anything I could to get that baby.

that sucks none near UT... *i can't particulularly drive out to CA then take a 12 hour ride home with my new machine.. too bad no NV ones.. (i would have figured Vegas... ... or CO.. o well..

My old roommate got a Neo Geo MVS 2-slot with 2 games for $400 about a year ago off ebay......so you just hafta keep looking I guess.

the first time you go, you have to give them a driver's liscense that they keep until you are ready to leave...after that, the next time you go, they just look up your info and give you a bidder's card...without it, you cant win an auction

you can pay cash or credit, but keep in mind, a $100 cab will cost you $119 .... the cost, 6% sales tax (for PA) and a 13% buyer's fee

i got my vigilante cab for $60 there and my super mario bros pinball machine for $685 (both before extra fees)

be sure to show up at 8 with an extension cord to try stuff....trailers or trucks are a def. needed

all bidding is free and if you dont win, you dont pay anything

also, look for local items...i got my mint neo geo mvs 4 slot for $350 and my near mint (after a $10 replacement monitor) nintendo vs. sit down cab for $125

Damnit, I was really excited for this then i remembered I have tickets for a Baltimore Orioles game that same day. Do they do it at the same places much? Even if its not until next year, I hope they do it again in Cherry Hill, NJ. I'm so mad right now, I really wanted to go!!

1st cherry hill show i went to was august 2004
the 2nd one i will go to will be the april 2005 show
im gonna assume that there will be another show there around august 2005 as well

most locations, as i have noticed are visited more than once in a 12 month period

Watch, it will be when I go away on vacation in August. Either way, I'm looking forward to the next one, whenever that may be. I hope it does happen sometime this year though.

be prepaired to devote a whole day to the auction though.

i live in PA...i got up and left around 430 - 5 am. got there at 8 for the 8-10 testing times. started the auction around 1015-1030. stayed for about 1/2 the auctions until i won the super mario bros. pinball machine and a vigilante arcade cab. until we packed up the stuff, paid, drove home, etc. it was 5pm......and we left about 1/2 way through the auction

Wow, thats pretty long, but it sounds awesome. I only live about 10-15 minutes from Cherry Hill so driving distance is not a problem. You think my mom's Mazda MPV mini van will be alright for transporting an arcade machine? I hope it'd be big enough for when the next auction comes around.

if you can fold the seats down and are only getting 1 machine, you should have no problem...even if you have to leave the tail gate up, your only driving 15 so it shouldnt be a problem

Super Auctions is ok, but make sure you know how to fix a machine before you buy from there. Often times the auction machines are at auction due to them having continued issues that vendors no longer want to deal with. Buying directly from a vendor is ok, but some will way overprice items. I have about 10 arcade machines that we are constintly selling and trading. We also ship to anywhere in the US. Shipping is usually between $250 and $350. You can see our games at Mojogaming Also, we currently have a NFL Blitz/NBA Showtime machine going on ebay right now. You can see that HERE

i found my two cabs in some newsgroup. granted, 1 was a 7 hour round trip drive, and the other was a 10 hour drive, but i paid a total of 300 for both cabs, so i was happy.
