Arcade Stick for Xbox - Opinions anyone???

Xevious

CAGiversary!
I recently bought Mortal Kombat Deception and I noticed that I have trouble pulling off combos.

So I was wondering if purchasing an arcade stick (or something simliar) would help my gameplay.

Here are some pictures:

Anyways, I like to hear from someone who owns one. Did It help you with your fighter games? Thanks in advance

EDIT: Here is one more

The top 2 are 20 bucks at Frys but the the bottom one is $50 at Best Buy

I have an X-arcade (use it for PC and consoles), but I hear there are better options if you want a stick just for one specific platform. People are always raving about "Mas Sticks" and "Hori" stuff so I guess you could try searching for those.

i have some "hori" controllers and they are some of the best controllers i have ever used. great quality too. if you get something from them, it would be worth it.

Aren't they coming out with a Street Fighter edition arcade stick for XBOX when Street Fighter Collection (XBox version) is released?

i own that nuby one at the top, got it for free at frys a while back. i use it for soul calibur 2. i haven't had any problems with it. check the controls for the game to make sure the controller has all the buttons and sticks you need.

i liiked playing soul calibur with the stick more than the controller. for DOA i perfer a controller but for arcade type fighters, (mortal kombat, soul calibur) i like the stick. for pulling off combos i have an easier time with the stick because the game uses black and white as the short cut buttons.

look at the set-ups for the controllers and see if the combos would be easier on them, if it looks like it then go get one. i reccomend it if your going to be playing this and other games with it for a while.

How much did you pay for a "Hori"? I did a brief search and I saw it for $68.

Also, which B&M stores sell it?

Does anyone have that Soul Caliber arcade stick that came out. I think it was compatible with all three consoles. Is that any good?

i have the Real Arcade stick... it is compatible with PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox... not a bad deal for $50.

Don't suppose it has the Xbox memory card/headset adapter slots, does it?

Here is the Hori I saw on the internet. If you look at all the pictures (Click on the link "View All Screen Shots") you can see there is a slot for memory cards.

I have never seen this stick before and I prefer to examine it at a store before considering buying it. Does anyone know if a B&M store sells this?
Haven't used it myself but I've heard things about this one:

50 bucks on GameStop's site. Although at that price you may wanna just go a little higher and get the trusted Hori.
The Real Arcade stick is great, well worth the $50 IMO. Plus, it works for all systems and it does have the slot for your XBL headset/memory card.

My only beef is that the cable length is a bit on the short side.
What are people's opinion on the X-Arcade Stick that they have at frys and outpost.

Its a little pricer then the other ones and you need to purchase separate adaptors for each console.
I have the dual stick model and I love it. I can personally vouch for its greatness when using it with PC, PS2, and Dreamcast. The xbox adaptor is supposed to have lag problems though so I haven't purchased that one yet. I don't know if you have to be like a super amazing player to even notice that lag, but I haven't used it so I couldn't tell ya. Highest recommendations on the other adaptors I've mentioned though.

Your best bet for now is the pelican real arcade, even though the buttons tend to get 'sticky", or you can just get a mas stick since they're made with real arcade parts ( happ sticks and buttons)

Then...there's always the option of building your own stick :)

the x-arcade has had reports of lag do to the converter? The bottom one looks almost identicle to the 15 after GGC pelican stick...except different buttons. Anyways if it is the pelican one, its only decent for fighting games, imo go ahead and shell out the 50x for a good stick...or build your own.

Well all your suggestions are great. I'm still doing some research but I am leaning towards the Pelican Real Arcade Stick.

The Hori looks interesting but I only found one website that sell it (and its not a website I heard of either).

The Nuby I want to take a look at. Mas Sticks, I could never find any information on these. The X-arcade looks good but its way too expensive for my tastes.

I still welcome any more information if you have it

Here's the mas stick link http://www.massystems.com/ProStick.html

The bad thing about them is that you have to place your order by phone, mail or fax. you'd figure that If they have a website they might as well sell them there :(

Another site that sells mas sticks is:
http://www.alphaelectronics.us/pd_mas.cfm
You can order directly from them and choose what kind of sticks and button colors you want. The site seems pretty reliable since some of the people at shoryuken.com buy sticks from there and the owner of the site is also a regular poster over there.

Alpha just places the order, same place builds them. I told him to not bother, I went direct, they were very nice on the phone. Took 13 days from call to delivery.

If you want that pelican fighting stick here it is for $15.84 shipped. The image is practically the same but no mention of the manufacturer or a upc #

I noticed the Hori and the Mas is specifically designed for PS2. Are there any lag issues with an adapter?

Um, where?

The Nuby ones (the green one and the silver one) are pretty good. I have the Soul Calibur multiplatform version of it. I also got an X-Arcade stick. It's also very good, if a bit cumbersome. It would be great if I had a stand to place it on so it was like an actual arcade set-up, but then I'd have to stand while playing. The X-Arcade also has a strange button layout in my opinion, but nothing one cannot get used to. That black and yellow one (I think by Pelican) blows. I bought one for the PS2 since it was only $20. I paid too much. I think the version pictured is also multiplatform, but since the stick is way too stiff, it does not matter how many platforms it supports, it still sucks. My biggest gripe with the majority of most of these sticks is the lack of ports for memory cards and communication ports. I mean, what good is playing your buddy in a fighting game if you can't egg on each other? If you're going to spend some cash (i.e. $50 or more), I think one should consider multiplatform sticks. (By the way, the only reason I got hold of an X-Arcade stick was a deal at Outpost. Got a single player one for $50 -- half the price.)

I didnt see it either.

Thanks for the info. I am going to Frys this weekend and check out the Nuby. I want to test it out. I want to see how the stick feels, how sturdy it is --etc.

I ruled out the X-Arcade cause its too pricey for my taste. I might go for the Pelican Real arcade though. I know Pelican makes 3 different sticks and the Real Arcade seems to be getting the best feedback.

Thanks for your info!

The real arcade sticks are pretty good but the buttons go bad after a while they stick and stop working, but for like 14$ you can order like 20 x-arcade buttons and easily put them into the real arcade stick. That solves the problem and I have been loving my real arcade stick since I put them in.
