Are DLC releases getting worse??

Capcom has never had a good track record for DLC. I mean they charge for costumes that are already on the Street Fighter discs, crappy RE5 multi-player that should have been a free patch, and now Lost Planet pre-order DLC before the game was even out. Good show, Capcom.

Really, though. I feel like DLC often takes a step in the right direction with items such as the Borderlands expansions (or even L4D2's mutation mode... though it was free on PC).

my take:
Fallout 3, 5 expansions, done right.
Resident Evil 5, additional chapters, done right.

Yeah the Fallout expansions were great but i thought the RE5 chapters were a waste of money tbh.

Luckily there have been DLC sales alot on LIVE or else this would suck really bad.

Its hard to say what DLC is bad or good since everyone finds value in different ways. Sure some are clearly raping your wallet for the money.

Also while i do enjoy the whole bonus thing EA is doing with project 10 dollar(Buying it early gets you a few months of free DLC) Its really hard to tell if this is content pulled from the game just for that and to stop used sales or not. I guess we will never know and assume it may be awesome/a deal
DLCs, when done right can greatly enhance a game and any gamers' experience.

my take:

  • Fallout 3, 5 expansions, done right.
    DeadRising, various costumes, done right.
GTA IV, 2 episodes, done right.
Resident Evil 5, additional chapters, done right.
Burnout Paradise, Big Surf Island, done right.
Gears of War 2, All Fronts map pack, done right.

Assassin's Creed 2, 2 delayed missing sequences, bad taste.
SoulCalibur 4, system exclusive characters, marketing gimmick.
Street Fighter 4 and Super Street Fighter 4, alternate costumes, pure greed.
Call of Duty: World at War, multiplayer maps, greedy bastards.
Ace Combat 6, additional planes, are you friggin' kidding me?!
Resident Evil 5, removed online feature, what is this BS!!!
Dead Space, additional suits and weapon skins, way to nickel and dime your customers eh?
Yes, please do come down now, because nothing you said made any sense. It's those kind of mumbling rants that make gamers look dumb.
So here's something I don't think anyone touched on.

Being sold cheats/codes. Look at the Record of Agarest War that just came out. Much like the Dante's Inferno and Madden 10 DLC, it's paying for cheat codes.
