I recently purchased a few DS games from ebay, because the price was unbeatable. I paid 10-12$ shipped for each one. The games were Digimon world championship and Bangai-O spirits.

The only thing that set me off was that both games featured french text on the back of the game and in the manual along with english. I have seen this with some games but it is a coincidence that both games I received from ebay had this? I was just wondering if this is normal for a DS game? Everything else was good, the shrinkwrap was the type used on DVD's and the manual and precautions book were there. The insert is in full color and does not seem to be off in any way. The logo's were all there with no misspellings. The cartridges are identical to known legitimate cartridges and nothing seems out of place there (the colors are not off or anything like that). The games insert into the DS and play fine.

^ Yeah it sounds like that. I also received some XBox games from Outpost.com a while back like that.

Well, here in China DS games are ALL pirated and i see them everywhere i go. Its just like all the pirated GBA games that pop up on ebay, good rule of thumb is to buy from a US seller and make sure the games is complete, the majority of fake games here have no case or a case that anyone can tell is fake. ( US call of duty 4 with chinese cover art...)

Doesn't sound like a bootleg.

Bootlegs are the games that come from Asian sellers, like those in China or Hong Kong though not always.

I am quite the expert on bootleg GBA games and usually when comparing those to a regular known legit GBA game any human eye should be able to see the difference. There is a difference in color of the cart and usually the font used for printing on the cart and many other things. The fake GBA games would also be very hard to push into the system (a telltale sign of a seller selling fake games was a lot of complaints about the game not fitting into the gameboy in feedback). These DS games have none of that but the french writing.

These games were factory sealed and from US sellers, since I am buying lesser known games the price does not surprise me.

I really don't think these are bootlegs but I just wanted to check.
Maybe it's the canadian versions of the game? Since all games up there have french & english versions of the manual(&sometimes the insert).
It is somewhat mandatory to have both french and english on products in Canada, maybe not all of CA, but I was with a merchant producer for WM and it was required that any product shipped to sell in WM CA required all of this.

Should be perfectly fine and not bootleg.

The fastest way to tell if it is, there is a number stamped on the back, most likely that will be missing, much like the white text of Nintendo on gba silicon.
The number is there, along with the white number on the silicon.
A.O.K then, is any of the menus in french or an option to turn it french?

this sounds legitimate... nintendo has started putting multiple languages on the back of their boxes.

i believe both ssbb and mk:wii do this as well.

Yeah, its been a while since I bought some retail DS games and I can't find the 2 games I bought in a store anywhere to look at the packages to compare (and even if I did they would be behind glass so I wouldn't be able to see the back).

No option to turn the language to french, just a french manual and outer case.

In Canada, nearly all games either contain French alongside the English or a separate cover and instructions manual. I also highly doubt you'd find DS bootlegs on eBay.
