Are pixel problems still an issue with new PSPs?

I'm looking to pick up a PSP, but I'm wondering if people are still experiencing the same kind of dead/stuck pixels that plagued the early systems.

Also, what are the current store policies on returning PSPs with pixel problems? Used to, they would take them back, but are they now making you send it to Sony?

Ive purchased three so far (two at launch, and one this week just to get a new one with my EB warranty) and I only had one dead pixel on one of my launch PSPs. The one I just got was flawless. My local EB allows people to exchange them if they have a dead pixel, but YMMV.

I have gone through 3 PSP's since launch, all because of scratches on the screen or something supid like that, but thats what warranties are for :D and none of them has had a dead pixel.

mine has 6 dead pixels...they show up as white dots on black backgrounds only (mostly on loading screens.) they're no big deal.

Man, I dunno. I can't stand to buy something and it not function at either 100% or how I expect it to.

Stuck/Dead pixels tear at my soul.

The first one i bought at launch had no dead pixels but after awhile the Dpad started to stick. So i got another one that had about 4 dead pixels. I managed and EB at the time so I just exchanged it for another that was fine. And i agree about something not being 100% functioning when you buy it. Esp for $250
they will ALWAYS be a problem with any LCD product... people just cant seem to grasp this
It's just that it seems to have been more common on the PSPs (launch units anyway) than any other LCD products. Yes, the DS had it's share of dead pixels too but not as widespread as the PSP.

But I'm pretty sure I read that the problem's fixed now. And if you do get a system with a dead pixel, usually most biggest stores like BB or CC will replace it within their warranty period.

I bought one about a week or two ago, one dead pixel in the very top right. I'm just gonna keep it cause I barely notice it but a long time ago when the PSP launched I bought one and it was horrific how many dead pixels it had, like a freaking rainbow arch across the middle of the screen. I took it back and got another one with about 6 DP and a broke R button, so basically I took them back got my money and waited til now to get another one.

Its normal for LCD screens to have this problem. If this is the only reason keeping from getting the psp, just go ahead and get one. Buy it at a store where a warrenty is included with the psp when you buy it. So you can swap it. Only swap if there are dead pixels really bugging you. Personally, I hate buying add on warrentys. I got mine from Wal-Mart.

One dead pixel in the lower left corner of the screen. Cant see it unless its in a black screen though. I kept it.

I got mine in December and I have about 2 small ones. Odd thing is they are only visible when you have something with a white background (when I'm using Google, etc.)

Lol deciding to leave the Ngage behind? (I made that decision soon after I purchased QD, and I have been telling everybody that Ngage iis my first and last phone from Nokia). I got 2 psps so far. (for several reasons, including the ability to stay playing homebrew and etc). and both of them are dead-pixel free. (The first one I got was during its launch date too). I will sell you my used 1GB MSPD+ 32MB one, PM if you are interested.
