Are Sandisk 'Gaming' Memory Sticks a scam?

my 1 gig is a yellow green color, but its a pro duo,
I really dont see the need for a "gaming" memory card because the normal ones work perfectly fine

Sounds like a possible class action lawsuit to me. I am using the "nongaming" one, yet the package has the "compatible with PSP" thing. Weird.

Yeah, it's just that you get different colors. I bought the regular blue 1GB one as well because it was on sale. Whichever one you can find for a better deal, pick up.

The gaming cards usually cost $10 less than the normal ones, because they don't have the adapter (which a PSP user would never need).

Get whichever you can find cheaper.

But to answer your question, they are not a scam. The idea was to sell the memory stick by itself cheaper because gamers don't need the adapter.

Yeah, the gaming ones seem cheaper....I use my adapter though, I have a memory stick reader and it's really easy to copy files that way from my PC.

They have a 2GB gaming one now also...it is blue

Uh? why?

One thing : If you have (or are ever thinking about getting) a Sony digital camera, you need that adaptor if you want to use that card in the camera as well. The adaptor is free in the regular version, but absent in the gaming one.

Oh, also you need the adaptor if you want to use it with a card reader on your computer or printer (that wasn't mentioned anywhere with my computer instruction, and I almost lost my 32 MB card in there the first time). Of course, you don't need to (you can just use the USB cable to the PSP instead), but it's much easier to transfer files with the card reader.

They probably do that because if they didn't, people too ignorant to check what kind of memory stick they needed would be returning them over and over. It's just a way of them telling people, "Hey, this kind of memory stick works in the PSP."
