Are the Off Brand Switch Charging Docks Any Good?

There's a little discussion on secondary docks in the Switch forum, mainly in this thread: https://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/363701-cheap-ass-substitute-for-second-dock/

From what I've seen, the Insignia looks to be the "best" substitute (from the major players at least) for a second dock if you can accept the 1 USB port. I have no idea if it accepts USB hubs, which at least would make it a lot less limiting if it did.

The Nyko is probably the best alternative if you're willing to risk it frying your Switch. There are only a few cases of that happening, and Nyko appears to be working with everyone that it happens to, so there's that.

Yea I was curious about the frying the Switch or how the hell that happens?
Since I like to plug my Switch into a USB charger every now and then when not docked.. though it's 90% of the time docked

Also, what if you use the Official Switch PSU with the Nyko or Insignia dock?

I still worry about scratching my Switch, even though I have a screen protector.

Is there any way to just buy "extension" cords or something? Rather than docking my Switch, I'd prefer to have a longer power cord but the connection to the TV seems to be by induction or something.

Realistically, no one really seems to know why or how the Nyko dock was killing systems. People have speculated that it's the AC adapter not being the correct specs, but I highly doubt Nyko will ever publicly admit what was causing the issue, especially if it was something as dumb as that.

If it was the AC adapter being the wrong specs, then using the official Switch one should solve the possibility of it frying your console.
