Are there differences in framerate between PAL and NTSC 360 games? (Metro 2033)

I recently purchased Metro 2033 on Amazon.com, and I found out that it was the PAL version. I have an NTSC Xbox 360, but the game still plays on it.

My question is: Do PAL games have lower framerates? It seems like it's laggier than a US copy of the game I played.

lol no, their the same version of the game just with different encoding and licensing shit.
metro 2033 played horribly on consoles, you probably just don't remember how bad it was.

PAL and NTSC use different refresh rates and slightly different resolutions for non-HD images (NTSC is generally 480i around 60 Hz and PAL is generally 576i around 50 Hz).

So long as you're using an HDTV and playing in an HD resolution, it shouldn't matter whether a game is PAL or NTSC.

Sometimes the discs are region-locked, but that's a different issue.

It's only different if you're playing on an old standard definition TV (and then it's a refresh rate/resolution difference; frame-rate should still be the same).

Also, chances are, if you were using an old standard definition TV, the image wouldn't display at all. Old NTSC TVs were usually incompatible with PAL images.

So long as you're playing on an HDTV, there should be no difference.

There is no difference even if you are playing in standard tv

I'm not sure what you mean by that. There's definitely a difference between PAL and NTSC, which I explained above.

It doesn't have to do with frame-rate (which I also explained in my previous posts).

So, if you're saying there's no difference in frame-rate, then I agree.

I'm kinda confused here. I know that 1080i/720p/1080p are the same for both PAL and NTSC but if you play on an SDTV, then wouldn't you be limited to SD resolutions in which case there would be a difference (since SD resolutions aren't universal)?

Exactly, and the refresh rates would also be different.

Basically, NTSC and PAL are two different standards for SDTV, and they pretty much don't matter anymore since most people have HDTVs.

PS3 and Xbox 360 games are coded to work on PAL and NTSC TV. That means if you play a PAL game it will look exactly the same as playing a NTSC games. The data on the disc are exactly the same, for example if you put some PAL games on a US system you will see ESBR rating.

That's good if the consoles in NTSC regions are pre-set to display NTSC, and PAL consoles are pre-set to display PAL.

There's probably a way to switch the console from one to the other, but it may not be straightforward.

In any case, the best strategy is always to use a digital connection (like HDMI) and play using an HD resolution, then it won't be an issue at all.
