Are these 320GB XBOX hard drive the same?

1. 320GB that came in the Halo 4 Limited Edition bundle
2. 320GB Media hard drive that you can buy separately and comes with Lego Star Wars 3

Anybody know if these two hard drive are identical internally or is one better/faster than the other?

I can get #1 a lot cheaper than #2. I do not care about the Lego game, so if they just have the same hard drive specs, I'll just get #1.

MS uses multiple brands for their HDDs... WD, Fujitsu, and Hitachi are the ones they use I think. All of the different brands of HDDs all have the same basic specs though and there's probably minimal difference with regards to performance.

I think the only issue may be with regard to quality/life expectancy but that's something we can't really know for sure. I have a Fujitsu drive and haven't had any issues with in over a year. I also pulled a WD drive and use it on my computer and again, no issues.

The first one is a pull from a Halo 4 LE console. The second is a retail packed drive.

Either one will work.

Thanks for the input. As suggested, I'll just go with the cheaper one then.

This will be used to upgrade my 4GB slim.

Or you can save yourself some money and use the older MS fat hard drives.
