Maybe you don't know but there is some new comedy that has some reference to white castle in it. So to promote the film they have built a temporary white castle on sunset here in Hollywood. There are no white castles here in socal so this may be my last time for a while to get one of those mini burgers. The burger stand will only be there for like 2 weeks, so should I go out of my way to get some of those mini burgers? Also I'm not really sure if they are selling them or giving them away. I'd rather pay the 5 bucks for the burgers then wait inline for 2 hours to get some free burger.

I think they're better suited as drunk-food. Lots of bread, not much meat, greasy as hell. Unless it's three in the morning and you're hungry, don't bother.

Do it. You'll regret it if you never ever eat a White Castle sammich.

Then, when you do eat it, you'll wonder why you did it.

But you must. It is your destiny.

in-n-out owns white castle. does any state besides california have in-n-out? i remember seeing that they had some in nevada and arizona or something. are there any on the east coast? if you guys haven't had in-n-out, you seriously are missing out on some of the BEST burgers ever...

not to mention that they're not too expensive either.
mn has no in-n-outs =[ or el pollo loco, churches chicken, and err others...
don't forget Jack in the Box

I've never had a real white castle burger, but the frozen ones actually aren't too bad. Also denny's used to (I think they still do) sell mini-burgers like the white castle ones. They were tasty too.

All IMHO, but....

White Castle sliders are simply the worst "burgers" ever made. Plain McDonald's hamburgers (the cheapo specials) spank White Castle burgers up and down the block - at least they taste of pickles, weak mustard, mild onions, and a tinge of meat. White Castle tastes like oily bread. That's how bad they are.

In-N-Out gets boring pretty quickly. Even when served animal style, their burger is not exactly exceptional. I'd rather spend a little more for a real diner-style burger, or a Nation's burger. But if any non-Californians ever visit the state, do try In-N-Out at least once, especially if you can't find a Nation's nearby. They're pretty good the first few times you have them.

But really, for late night burgers, look no further than the Sourdough Jack. In fact, I just had one an hour ago. I'd rather hit the JITB at this hour for one of these than make my own patty melt w/bacon & Monterey Jack on buttered sourdough toast. Just make sure to skip the one from Carl's Jr., which isn't anywhere near as good.

To the Californians: You might disagree with me on JITB, but you know Nation's is better than In-N-Out. Come on, you KNOW it. A burger & pie at Nation's or Lori's beats In-N-Out with a stick.

You need to try White Castle burgers at some point in your life. But they're terrible, greasy little square grey patties that taste like nothing but fat.

If you have a Hamburger Station somewhere near you, now that's the stuff right there. Real slider burgers with a full slice of onion on top.
White castle burgers are like crack....you have to get your fix.
Too true!
They taste okay, and I certainly hate the after affect, but there's something about them that every couple of months or so I just HAVE to have them.

My old boss used to take us out to lunch for "competitions" to see who could scarf down the most in our lunch hour. He was a big guy and could bury us, but he always ate an extra five after beating whoever was in second just to prove that he had won hands down.

There's no tastier way to piss off your digestive system though. Just be sure you stay within a 30 second sprint of a restroom with handicap bars after eating there. You'll appreciate something cool to grip while you're whimpering in pain.

Sliders?

Oh they're fucking horrible. You know why they are called sliders? Cause they slide in and they slide out.

But as an american, it's your duty to eat a sack of 10 in your life time.

There's nothing wrong with a good slider. White Castle is not good slider's, they're cheap crap sliders. And I don't know if anyone else is like this, but all the White Castle's by me are now half White Castle and half Church's Chicken. Of course most of my Taco Bell's have Pizza Huts inside them too.

Ahh, fast food multi-tasking.

I don't know if it's still on OSU's campus, but there used to be a "3 in 1" on High Street, it was a KFC/Pizza Hut/Taco Bell. Made for some weird ass looking lunch trays!

And yeah, the WC by my house has a Church's in it now. Better selection of side dishes!

They grow on you. The burger's practically melt in your mouth.
I used to have White Castle's on a more regular basis when I was out partying til 3 or 4 in the morning, but now in my older days I'll only have them about once every 3 months. Everyone needs a good cleaning out 4 times a year !

Church and White Castle are align so is Taco Bell/Pizza Hut/KFC/Baskin Robbins/Dunkin Doughnuts ( Team Pepsi ). It's really to save space and a kitchen. Most Fast food at these places are pretty much pre cooked and just need to be reheated. Now, they can service twice the amount of customers in the same space, for one and half the price as before. It's awesome cuz then I can mix and match menus. Let me get a gordita with pepperoni, a biscuit, coleslaw, and a small sundae. Oh and throw in a box of munchkins.

I live in SoCal, and I've always wanted to try a Slider from White Castle since I saw it on Unwrapped. I'll probably just buy a couple of the frozen ones. But In-and-Out is great! Love their fries too and their prices are just right! By the way what is Nation? Anyone ever try Sonic's?

I've been calling them murder burgers for years. I think they are quite tasty. However you will definetely be spending time on the porcelin throne after a chow down
white castle is good if you are drunk or nothing else is opened and it is 3 in the moring.
It's also good at lunch break if people at work are annoying you.

Bah, I hate you all. You all have In N Out, Sonic's, Carl's Jr., Jack In the Box, and the like, while I have nothing. Yeah, we have White Castles (half an hour away), but they always look like crap. If I want a burger, I'm basically forced to go do McDonald's, Burger King, or Wendy's. Wendy's is the best, but it's kind of a drive and BK is really close. I would kill for an In N Out burger any day.

I haven't had White Castle in years, but from what I remember they didn't have much taste to them and your digestive system would get punished by eating them.

I live in northern Jersey, so I don't have any of those high-profile burger joints besides Wendy's, McD, and BK near me. There's this independent place I go to like 10 mins away from my house called White Manna that makes Sliders the way their supposed to be made - delicious and digestible.

I've had both WC and In-n-Out burgers and InO taste better and don't do as much damage to your digestive system. They are also a better value as the burgers are twice the size of a White Castle.
Anyone else frequent Hot-N-Now...aka Rot-N-Cow?? That was a college staple back in the day when their burgers were 39 cents. I would go there after class, buy 5 burgers and that would be my lunch and dinner for the day at a grand total of 2 bucks. Left me with more money for more important things, beer !!
Fill up on the bugers because.. " White Castle fries only come in one size"
You cant beat a sack of fries or rings with your burgers.

Yeah, and what other burger chain used to offer fried clams !! I don't think they still offer them but then again I don't look for them on the menu either.

my dad, brother, and i went to a white castle in MN when i was little (about 12 i'd say) and I REFUSED to eat them because they looked so nasty... i think it was 12 burgers for 6 bucks. Anyway, we got to our destination about 2 hours later and poor guys, there was only one bathroom and both of them were about to shit their pants from the nasty white castle burgers (i think they each ate 6). Well my brother made it in first so my dad was poundin on the door until he came out looking all sick and of course dad got his turn and i think they were rather sick most of the next day too.

I WILL NEVER EAT WHITE CASTLE, and I am very happy to say I was smart enough to never try it in the first place.

I've never had that problem. It's always been one nice enjoyable load and that was it. It's nice to have a good release once in a while.

I had a bet with an employee that he couldnt eat 20 of them in 30 minutes...

I won but he ate them all anyways..it took about an hour and he was like vomitting and felt sick all day.

It was awesome. We were sober even.

I am one of the rare people you'll fine that are not affected by white castle at all. I can down a bunch of burgers and a sac of fries and will not have any problems with my stomach what so ever. And yes im proud of it!

magilacudy- You live near me. I've heard about White Manna and thought it was pretty interesting until I learned that they're White Castle-like burgers.

It takes a while for your system to get used to some things like White Castle, Coney Dogs, and non-pasteurized micro beers. Years of exposure to these items has made me immune to most of the effects they have on the average Joe (bad gas is still a side effect that won't go away though).
I will never touch a White Castle Burger. Of course, it makes it easy that there are none in my area.
You really should try it... if not for you at least do it for the kids!

No one likes white castle the first time, but after the third visit you would swear that they were steam grilled by god himself (or at least a reasonable facsimile). also they have awesome fries and chicken rings

I was once engaged in a similar bet. 3 guys/50 bucks a head/winner take all/losers pay for the grub/who could eat the most without spewing. We started off with 105 cheeseburgers. The first guy quit at 25, he did not spew but did turn a little green. The second guy hurled all over his tray at 31. ( I could never figure out why he did'nt go burger for burger with me after guy one bailed out ) I was at 23 at the time. When he heaved it almost made me heave. I continued .....pounded down 3 more murder burgers and won the cash. The $100 however did not compensate for the 2 days of nasty shits I had afterwards.

White Castle is god's restaurant.

Nothing beats a Crave Case (read: Briefcase full of 30 burgers) of Whitey's Slyders. NOTHING.

Oh, and I DARE YOU to find another restaurant that sells CHICKEN RINGS. GO AHEAD! TRY!
