Are you ready for Black Friday Deals

The best BF deals for me have always been online. This year I think I'll just cozy up to my computer early in the morning (like that's anything new) with a cup of hot chocolate and wait for a shiny "buy" button to click. Then I'll go stuff myself with cold turkey and stuffing, suck on a gravy popsickle, and open my 19.99 Rome Total War from last BF.

Wal-Mart's ad looks okay, if a bit underwhelming. The GBA SP for $50 isn't bad. The now-annual $30 DVD player deal isn't bad, either.

My favorite Wal-Mart Black Friday deal remains the $80 jet-black Cube I got a couple of years back that included the Zelda collector's disk (Zelda, Zelda 2, Ocarina, Majora's Mask) and the disc carrying case...

I'm pumped! It's my favorite shopping day of the year. I try to be done and back in bed by early afternoon. The night before always involves a battleplan of sorts, deciding which order to hit the stores in order to avoid lines and snag what I want most.

27" Flat Screen Tube TV for $247? How is that a deal? I bought a Sanyo 27" Flat Screen for $219 back in September. It wasn't even an advertised special. I know it says TUBE and not LCD panel screen . . . perhaps that's where the 'mistake' could be or maybe it's a higher end brand like Sony.

im thinking i may have to scout out the plantronics bluetooth headset. plantronics makes good stuff and ten bucks works for me

my friends used to use cheap plantronics headsets for counter strike. quality is decent/ok. headsets are definitely you get what u pay for.

if it's for music/movies/porno/jacking off you're fine.

I've been thinking off getting myself a laptop for Xmas, still curious to see what BBs annual cheapo laptop will be and what CC offers. Cheapest setup i can do on Dell is $588 shipped with tax for a stripped Inspiron 1200 with a 14" screen with pretty much the same stats as the above laptop, I didn't search for coupons so maybe cheaper. Someone posted on AT that the model number was a WM exclusive so alot of corners were probably cut so they could offer it for $400.... I'll probably wait till Dell has a good sale and just pay a couple hundred more but get a kick ass laptop instead of a crappy one like these.

What time did you guys get there last year? I overslept and got to BB a little before 4am and the line was stretched all the way along the front and down the side of the building. I was standing BEHIND the store in line for about 10 minutes until I said fuck it and left. BB had people going through the line with clipboards giving away reserve slips for the most of the hot items. I came back a couple hours later and got pretty much everything I'd wanted anyway.

I usually get to whatever store I'm going shopping to by 12am. the last couple of years I've been the one of the first 5 peeps in line.
Sometimes... you can just buy a newspaper on Thanksgiving day. All sales are listed in the paper.
Not always. Didn't a good portion of people not get the Radio Shack ad last year for instance? So having them listed online is a good thing.

(Not to mention knowing ahead of time what is on sale to plan accordingly)

Yea they usually the hot things like laptops are limit 10 per store. That's freakin early though. But that's not much later than I got in the PS2 line, lined up about 11 something PM for that.

I don't have any moral objections to getting a couple deals on that day like some people do (some of my friends will lecture me if they find out I bought something on "Buy Nothing Day"), but anything that I have to get there earlier than 5am for is not worth my trouble, in my book.

lol I got that cube deal from bestbuy after pricematching it with walmart's ad.
2+hrs to check out.. no one to talk to :p

Personally I find Black Friday one long pointless exercise in annoyance. I'd rather just sleep in if you ask me and do my shopping IN THE FREAKIN DAYLIGHT like a damn normal human instead of getting in line like as if we are all waiting for Pink Floyd tickets... but instead its to save $1 on a damn CD.

It builds character.

I usually just go to office max, tons of random computer crap free after rebates, plus always a good deal (imho) on hard drives (last year I got a 200 gig for about 50 bucks)

Is there any site that lists the items by catagory? Like, I'm interested in a new TV... can I find all the BF listings for TVs at all the stores?

And what's this about reservation tickets? How does that work?

I'm seriously thinking about going this BF... it'll be my first time but I want to see what kind of deals I can get. I'd love to get a new TV, desktop computer, speakers, DVD player, and of course, videogames.:)

No, i would wait in line for 3 days for floyd tickets

Only if Roger Waters is there. If not... I'll pass.

As far as BBY/CC's ads.... don't expect to hear anything to at best the week of Black Friday as they both really guard the ads very well (hell us employees don't even get to see them until the last minute).

And for the record here is my PREDICTION on what CC's ad will be like going by the current trends of what the average CC sales are like....

Some $3.99-$5.99ish DVD sale
$9.99-$13.99 CDs for $9.99
Cheap DVD player for around $20
Some kind of 42 inch HDTV for $600
Cheap laptop for $300
27 or 32 inch TV for $150-200ish
CD-R,DVD-R,DVD+R 25 pack bundle for $5ish

One exhasted Demolition Man after the day is over... priceless.

The only place I will go to on Black Friday is probably CompUSA. They usually have their excellent-quality DVD-R media on sale. I always go through a lot of discs backing up my hard drive, making workprints of my movies, and backing up my DVDs.

When I worked at CC about a year ago I saw the Black Friday Ad around this time possibly sooner. I remember I was unimpressed and we had about three copies just lying around the employee lounge area. Hope your prediction about the $600 HDTV is true since that's right up my alley.

There are a couple things I want to mention here. First, the information on the laptop is incorrect. If you look at the actual ad scan, it shows that the laptop is equipped with an AMD Sempron 2800+ processor. While it isn't much of a difference, some people might appreciate the correction.

Also, your plan to purchase a Dell during one of their large sales is probably going to fall apart. As Dell has posted large losses recently, they have also announced that the company will focus on high-end systems, dumping their current low cost marketing strategy. In other words, don't expect any $750 off coupons this winter.

I'm in the same boat, I'll wait a few hours tops, and only if it's an amazing deal. Otherwise it's not worth my effort.

The horror experienced by going to Walmart on any day, let alone black friday is just not worth any savings. imo.
The horror experienced by going to Walmart on any day, let alone black friday is just not worth any savings. imo.
Very True. I can't be bothered to get up for my job at a descent hour, let alone some ungodly made up time of night/morning like 4am. The deal would have to be beyond amazing...

I feel like Chris Griffin (Family Guy) whenever someone mentions a time of day earlier than 9am...

Chris Griffin: "I didn't even know there was a 5am. What else haven't you told me?!"

42 inch HDTV at $600? I really doubt it... there are some 30 inch CRTs available right now at that price, but I really doubt the plasmas will dip that low.

Luckily Walmarts deals never really impress me enough to put on a coat of armor and try to take advantage of it, and the only thing that seems nice this year is the laptop. I'm counting on some decent DVD sets this year, maybe I'll take advantage of a possible buy2get1 sale at EBGames. All of the ads should be out in a week or two, I remember having plenty of time to lay out a plan of attack.

Only things that look resonable and are of name brands that are trusted to some degree. Not to impressive selection, anyone see any other HD tv ads around for BF?
I was looking at that Sansung as the best CRT HD-TV for now. Hopefully more will come from CC and BB.
