Yeah, Atlus' dub for SMT DDS was excellent. I have absolutely no complaints as far as that game goes. But I'm guessing Blue Dragon will be disastrous... just a gut feeling.

That video is a relief though -- it's all really well done.
Trust me, Blue Dragon IS HORRIBLE.

But hey, it has Japanese language option!

Woooo.
Yeah, as long as the Jap's in there, I'm good. Should be the same thing for Lost Odyssey later this year too, which is a relief.

Though Persona 3 is still the RPG that matters most.

i hated persona 1 and 2.. what makes me think i'll like 3..

right now.. i can't get enough of dragon quest 8.. that game is too adicting and i lose too many days just wandering around beating things up.. i am also playing xenogears.. it too eats up a lot of my time.. one day i'll get into Lunar 1 & 2.. and eventually i'll get contact on the DS.. and i just finished Final Fantasy 4 and 5 on the GBA didn't play them the first time so it was great to "finally" beat those pre FF7 games..

i'm not getting a next gen console until Mass Effect comes out and its good..

although oblvion just temps me every single day.. but i know i don't want it yet (IE i think they'll be a price drop)

currently i'm playing valkyrie proflie lenneth on the psp I just bought and still trucking my way through pokemon diamond on the ds (230+ hours)!

and as far was what I'm looking forward to, I'm VERY much looking forward to both final fantasy tactics and crisis core for the psp.
i hated persona 1 and 2.. what makes me think i'll like 3..
Depends on why you hated them... for starters, part 3 is a lot more polished than the previous two..... the story isn't as dark or detailed as the first two, but it definately has it's own pull/vibe.

The game is way easier than the first two games too. A lot more user friendly as well.

It's just way different, I can't tell you for sure if you'll like it, but I think it is worth a try/rent...

----

And yes, Dragon Quest VIII is a wonderful game... I had to rush to beat that game(reviewed that game 2 years ago)... but it was the best non sleeping marathon I ever had...

well.. to be honest.. the reason i hated the first game was the controls (pre dual shock ps1 sucks for controls) so i guess you can chock that up to "user friendly".. and yeah.. the second one just didn't appeal to me when i finally purchased it (like 2 or 3 years ago.. maybe..)

i will try it if i see it.. i mean i usually try everything.. and i did like the first DDS game.. wasn't too bad.. if its created by that team (from what i understand) then it will be pretty good..

but yeah.. the first game was just too wonky for me.. the controls were hard to understand and I was confused for the 3 to 5 hours i put into it.. made me want to kill myself.
That's one of the reasons I liked it... I was actually annoyed that
they came back!

Sure it diminished their sacrifices, but I'd take the twins over Rosa and Rydia anytime.
So about how many hours in will Tales of the Abyss get good?
I liked it from the beginning, so I can't help you there T.T

I really have enjoyed atelier iris so far. Although the story is mostly non-essential. (The fact that I cannot remember where I'm going when I return to play the game w/o using the 'mission' button shows the story to not really be that compelling/involving. I completely forgot there was a main villian until he was mentioned again).

The question I really have is if I liked the first one should I pick up the 2nd? I see the third has gotten really poor reviews for backtracking and being a dungeon crawler, so that's off my list. But what is anyone's opinion of AI 2?
Noooo!!
Sorry. Actually, I just like Palom's magic abilities, but I liked Rydia's character much better. So it's more of a toss-up really. Rosa's gonna be stuck at that tower for loooonng time though.

I keep switching off between Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Shinobi. They're both so good. I wish Sega would make a new Shinobi that wouldn't be mediocre. I really like the way they did it where the more you kill the stronger your sword gets. Makes you feel all cool when you take out a boss in 2 hits :p

Rei - I took your advice and sought out a copy of FFXI. Picked one up off another CAG for $8 shipped. Phantasy Star was also cheap, $15. Are these MMORPG's so cheap cause they require you to pay extra to play online?

Yeah, they are. I can't remember the rates exactly, but PSO/PSU requires a Hunter's License to get online and FFXI needs registration+payment through their PlayOnline service.

When you play choose the Fenrir server, it's one I'm on. I'll help you out. The only thing is my 360 is being repaired, so I won't be on until I get it back.

^ Thanks, I haven't gotten my copy of PSU yet. But I plan on playing that first. If it gets boring I might hop over to FFXI. By that time I asume your 360 should be fixed.

I'm not sure what "class" is, but I know I want to be of Newman race. I like magic :bouncy: I pretty pissed I didn't get my copy today, I've been dying to play it for a week now. I should've just spent the extra $10 and bought one at EB/GS. My friends have already got it and are waiting for me to get mine. URGH:bomb:

I got Enchanted Arms last week for PS3 due to the price drop, but I'm wondering and asking anyone who has played it, is it worth playing or should I return it while I have the chance?

They added new classes aside from the normal Hunter/Ranger/Force, and you can switch between the initial three at almost anytime. Once you level your classes enough, you can switch classes to make a hybrid of any of the 3. I was aiming for Hunter/Ranger, but leveling up Ranger was a pain.

Also, certain races get special bonuses. At lvl 10, Casts get a huge laser/grenade launcher/death beam to fire at enemies, and Beasts get to transform into.....bigger beasts. Three or four different big beast forms to choose from though. Invincibility, Power, Defense, and Agility. Power is usually the best one in the beginning, but once you start to get to harder missions, Invincibility is usually a better choice so that you don't get smacked around while you're fighting up-close. From what I heard, they were still working on the Human/Newman bonuses. Newmans get a summon, and Humans get.....vehicles.

I used to play on Fenrir. Sort of regret transferring to Hades, which ended up being thirty times worse than Fenrir ever was.

Regardless, FFXI was a decently fun game to level a character in, but the tedium of its endgame was unrivaled by anything I've encountered since. I'm still amazed I managed to stay awake through all those marathon HNM camping sessions, let alone stuff like Kirin and Dynamis Lord.

Finished Xenosaga Episode 1 last night. It had the most intense ending I've ever seen, so I went directly into Episode 2. Love the combat system, it's so fast.
Started playing PSU. I'm a Force. But I need money. Why are clothes so damn exspensive? Any tips on Meseta making?
Heheheh, yeah, I remember my roommate being a clothes-whore. Of course, HE always had meseta, and I didn't...

Anyways, if you like making moneys, Planet Moatoob is one good location. You can go and do Bruce Runs with other people at the Guardian's desk there. As long as you can get at least an overall "A" grade for the mission, you make around 9-10k meseta. Even more for "S."

Love Xenosaga 2? Surely you jest.

If you think that combat system fast, that's nothing compare to the next episode. I dislike the combat system for that game. All the characters have the same skills and there is very little strategy involved in combat. It either boost aerial or ground attack, afterwards keep doing the same thing for boss fights over and over again

i don't like the more realistic character models in xeno episode 2. i finished episode 1 a couple of months ago and swore i wouldn't start episode 2 until i finished disgaea 2 which i promised i wouldn't start until i beat odin sphere. so much for that haha. now currently playing all 3 and it looks like its gonna be a while before they're all done and i can open up episode 3 :(
Love Xenosaga 2? Surely you jest.
Nope. Fixed my problem with the last one (Episode 1's combat was slow.). My only problems are some of the new VO's are bad (MOMO and KOS-MOS).

Most of my battles boiled down to Tech Attack-Enemy Attack-Heal-Tech Attack. That is until I got
Erde Kraiser
.
I don't agree with your complaint about skills. I think you're supposed to tailor each character to their strengths (Giving MOMO and Shion ether based attacks, giving Ziggy and KOS-MOS skills that increase the attacks and defense further, etc.). The same could be (And has been) said about FF XII.

Episode 2's combat was just as slow, if not slower, than Episode 1's.

That said, I enjoy Episode 3's more streamlined and quicker battle system.

Fair enough, though from what I remember its combat system was actually rather slow due to its reliance on whoring stock, particularly in boss fights. Plus, the manner in which the characters are differentiated makes a few of them (Ziggy, Shion) rather useless except in a few infrequent situations. I was also never really enamored with the plot, but that's a whole different matter.
Alright, I've decided I'm going to give Enchanted Arms a shot...can't be THAT bad, can it?
I've played a couple of hours on the 360 version, and it wasn't bad. It has an interesting battle system, kind of a mix of a SRPG and a regular RPG.
I own all 3 Xenosaga games and have yet to play them...
Really? Do you realize how many female characters there are? ;)

Ok, I need a quick clarification here. In FFTactics, can you have a Lancer dual-weild spears? You can do it for other weapons (swords, katanas, fists), but a friend mentioned that spears were out of the picture. I just hope that I'm not wasting my time making my Lancer learn Two Swords.

Pretty damn sure you can't use two spears.

Speaking of which, anyone else get Riviera for the PSP? I really liked the game on the GBA, so I really like this one as well.

wow, dds finally got somewhat difficult:
after completely destroying Lupa, the Brutes base is much harder than expected. time to grind some more skills and level....
