Half of the time that I saw, they were just advertising their own shows and Mountain Dew. They didn't even mention the new SSB, nevermind show the trailer. And some of the girls on there looked like they had no idea wtf they were doing and they all had horrible, eerie, smiles...that and Gilbert Godfrey. WTF is he doing there??? I feel so sorry for that man.
 
I agree 100%. Theres about 6-7 minutes of actual coverage per hour it seems. Its all ads for their other shows, and theyre reading everything off prompters. There is almost zero adlibbing, they dont give their opinion on anything, its horrible.
 
All I've heard so far is "Sony shows why they hold the top spot in the video game industry", I laughed and turned the channel. Maybe I heard something from last year's E3? Or perhaps a few years ago when they announced the PS2...
 
G4 is crap. You didn't think there coverage of E3 would be good did you? Terrible channel and I can't stand most of the people on it.

I watched about 3 minutes tonight and it was some of the worst TV/reporting that I had ever seen. I'd like to see some trailers, have them spend time talking about what they have seen or anything useful. They just kept going around from group to group (of their announcers) talking about what was coming up. The problem is that the only thing coming up was my dinner. It was absolutely horrible.

I could stand in front of a camera and give a better report of the show from what I have read on this site alone. With crap like theirs, its a wonder that they are still on the air.

I started watching it and all I saw was unfunny cracks towards the other hosts and some dude playing Madden. Needless to say, I went to Dairy Queen.

We'll see if they cover it properly tommorow. Probably not. With the whole new format thing there touting I hope for there sake they can shape up. After all we don't want idiots to be representing gamers, at least not forever.
 
I've watched most of the last three nights and though I agree that in general the coverage basically sucks, there are some genuinely cool parts. For example, seeing things like MSG4 and Super Mario Galaxy in 60fps in 480p is nice. They also had Reggie on there, John Carmack, the Sega prez, and a bunch of other people.

Essentially, the best parts of G4's coverage are in the fact that they are televised, not terribly compressed/streaming like everything online, and they have some good interviews and hands-on showcasing with the developers.
 
15 minutes of actual coverage each hour earlier on in the week, now down to around 8 minutes of actual coverage.

The Attack of the Show people mostly toss around bad jokes, "in-fighting" (staged bullshit), and relaying what the viewers think even though any jackass near a computer can see that via the website.

Most of the major announcements, clips, and other things are going unreported or are mentioned in such brief passing that it's a laugh.

Remember when X-Play would just cover E3 through around five or six different episodes and at least touch upon all of the major stuff? How about last year's E3 material when there would be more of a selected focus on titles yet there was some quality discussion and presentations?

Yeah, that's all gone. What an absolute waste. I ~want~ to support good aspects of G4 like I used to but they keep going down the toilet every damned month.
 
Makes me glad I've missed most of it. All I watched from their E3 coverage this year was the MGS4 trailer.
 
I tried to watch some two days ago, but I couldn't stand the hosts long enough to see the exclusive Spore report. Ah well.
 
It's for such occasions like this that Tivo was invented.

I was thinking the same thing as I skipped through 3 hours of E3 footage in twenty minutes. I don't remember last year or the one before being this bad. Three hour episodes is too much imho, especially when it mostly consists of promos for their other shows and please, stop acting like Filter is a "new" show when it's been around before.

It seems, or I could be FF through it, that they are missing out on plenty of games, especially for this generation of consoles. Super Paper Mario? The FF 7 spin-offs? Guitar Hero 2? What about the 15 minute trailer for MGS4? The new SSB? DOAX2?

There are a few good things. The interviews with Reggie, Carmack, Moore, Molyneaux, etc have been decent. Cliffy B playing Gears of War was cool and seeing the games are cool, Spore hands on was good, but I feel like it's Groundhog Day and I'm watching the same day of coverage over and over. Is there different footage other than the clip of Mario fighting the space octopus?? Please???

I did get a kick out of the ESPN reject who is covering the Sony floor interviewing Michael Madsen. He was talking to Madsen about the Reservoir Dogs game while using a midwestern accent, all the while it looked like Madsen wanted to beat the living shit out of him.

I give the coverage a 2.....out of 5.
 
Their advertisement pre-E3 made it sound like it would some damn good coverage but once they actually showed it, it was pure crap.

I just signed up for IGN Insider (with free 1 year subscriptions to EGM and OPM) for $20 and downloaded all the HD clips. Beats having to listen to G4's terrible hosts.
 
Agreed. I DVRed the first day and watched it later FFing about 75% of it. Especially at the end of each hour it seemed like they'd tell you what you just saw, tell you what they are going to show you next, ask you to not change the channel, go to commercial..., tell you what you just saw again, tell you what you are going to see now again. Yeesh!

DVRed the second day, but ended up not really watching it because I didn't feel like FFing more than I watched. Didn't even bother recording it last night. Pretty bad when there is the excitement of two major consoles launching later this year. There should be all kinds of good stuff to cover.

Throwing to THE FEED a couple times a night is just horrible. The first night led with some story about Britney Spears each time. I couldn't get to the FF button fast enough. I'm trying to get the news about E3 here not my fix of entertainment news. Get a freaking clue! Are they trying to entice viewers into changing the channel?

Last year their coverage wasn't this bad IIRC. At least I remember actually watching each of the nights (on DVR of course.)
 
I DVRed last night's and I have watched about half of it (90% FFed). It is really bad this year. Last year was alright, but as others have said, this year it is one long, bad, obvious advertisement for Scion, Mt. Dew, and all of the "new" shows on G4.

She married that OTHER guy on the show. I forget his name...the guy who always sat on the couch and went to conventions and what not. I was curious because I thought the new girl sucked also....getting a BIT better though

Don't get me wrong, though - It WAS full of self-promoting; It WAS full ads and mindless banter. But considering that this was my one TV source for E3 I really didn't think it was that bad. (and the Gilbert Godfrey bit was freaking hilarious).
 
The entire coverage this week has been a complete abortion. There's about 6-10 minutes of actual coverage per hour, with the rest being taken up by hype for what's coming up, stupid in-fighting, that retarded Morgan Minute, pimping for other crappy g4 shows, booth babes, etc. As others have emntioned, where's the new SSB trailer? Guitar Hero 2? Super Paper Mario?

I mean, the entire demographic g4 is aiming at probably has an internet connection and has already seen/heard everything they want, so why the hell are they giving us uninteresting drivel and snippets of info we already know? Why not highlight games people are ignoring? How about giving us COMPLETE trailers? Why not cut out some of the useless host banter and give us extended/more interviews?

So what did Jaffe talk about? God of War 2? His new PSP game? Why he says "fuck" in every interview?

GoW2. He talked and the director for GoW2 played it while they talked. It looks pretty sweet, as expected.
 
It's really dissapointing this year. Yeah, you can't really expect that much from G4, but last year's coverage was actually pretty damn good. This year, they've actually gone through plenty of segments without even showing anything game related. It'd be a 10 minute promotion for Attack of the Show, X-Play, and a kick to The Feed. Hell, at one point they said that Gears of War footage was coming up next. The footage came THE NEXT FREAKING DAY. The only good thing has been some of the interviews.

Sadly, this is the best coverage I can get without taking all night to download trailers. Damn dial up. -_-
 
its really disappointing this year. Last years coverage was outstanding... this year its like a big giant advertisment about their stupid shows and their BRAND SPANKED NEW SET. i wish they'd spend money on gamers than stupid sets.


and that new chick is hot, but jesus she is the most dullest co-host ive ever seen.
 
I watched the other day, and the best thing was totally Sessler's glances of contempt towards the jackass and the girl from AOTS.

G4's E3 coverage has become unbearable for me. If I have to hear their website one more goddamned time...

Why is G4 the only channel for games?

I thought that was the bad thing. They almost give you no heads up as to what they are about to show and you can't skip to want you want to watch without having TiVo. When getting on the internet, just search what you want and you're there.

I was referring entirely to the increased visual quality. The trailers look nice.

I missed the original live presentation tonight and have been watching the re-airing. Mostly suckage.

However, the Guitar Hero 2 segment was great. It was long, showed off the game, and they actually played some multiplayer. I hadn't heard this revealed elsewhere, but it seems you can select difficulties per player, meaning I can actually play it with my friends and not fall asleep playing Normal.

Sure, I had to suffer through hours of crap, but that was almost worth it.
 
That blonde chick(Sarah Lane) did marry that Brendan Moran guy who also was on AOTS, the funny thing is she was going to marry the original host when the show first started(Kevin Rose).

Holy crap. Is it just me, or did it look like Sesslar was going to deck dull girl in the 2nd hour tonight? It looked like she read more than she was supposed to, because Adam was about to talk and she kept rambling on. Then after she finished what was coming up, Adam got to say his name. It seemed like they were supposed to introduce themselves, THEN she explain what was coming up.

When she seemed to miss that, I could have sworn he was about to slap her upside the head. That glare was damn dirty. Unless it was supposed to be a little "joke." It sure as hell didn't look like that though.

The G4 coverage really sucked as usual makes me wanna build a tech channel of my own. (wonders how much it would be to rent a sat station 's bandwidth)

I would have been happy if they had 3 blocks of time where they just set the camera down and taped the conference Live. Then a repeat during prime time.

1 for Sony
1 for Xbox
1 for Nintendo

That's all they had to do.


Then another block that covered games and technologies now shown in the conferences going up to booth's asking about products. To a lesser extent covering the booth babes.

I want CONTENT not hosts talking to other hosts and trying to be silly.

(sigh)

Thank god I was able to watch the conferences in full on gamespot

I tivoed the G4 coverage fast forwarded through 99.99% of it and watched about 5 minutes of previews.
