So, I'm looking at this DS Lite on eBay and it's listed as "As-is", but the only reason the seller listed it as that is because they don't have a charger to test if it works or not. Cosmetically it looks pretty good.

Is it worth the gamble for $35?

Nope. Never trust a seller that says "that's as far as I've tested it" or "I don't have the charger" or something along those lines. I'd say 99% of the time, they know it doesn't work.
You can find DS Lites "as is" that have broken screens or hinges or something along those lines for around that price, and they're pretty easy/cheap to fix. If the seller says it plays games (or better yet, shows a picture of it playing a game) then that might be worth the gamble, but it's definitely a no on the untested ones.

To be fair, it is being sold be a top rated seller with over 1,000 feedback, but still, I agree with you guys.

I've been on the hunt for a DS for a while. I was letting my desperation cloud my expectations. >_>

You should check the guy's history and see what else he's sold.

It could just be a pawn shop that's selling off stuff people pawn off, and stuff doesn't have to be complete to be taken in, so that could very well be the case, but any time in situations like these, just browse through some feedback and see if you'll run into a problem.
You can find a working DS for $50... so why would you take that chance
I'm a college student. If I can save money in any way, I will.

If you don't have extra monies and are trying to save money then don't gamble; non-returnable as-is items are always a gamble and you will eventually get stuck with a lemon because you're agreeing to purchase it as a possible lemon. Spend a few extra bucks on a seller who confirms it works or has a decent return policy.
