I'm currently in China, and might be for 6 more months. I was thinking about buying a PS3 here since they're everywhere, but I wanted to know the disadvantages of doing so? Region Locks for games or movies? Do the Asian PS3's have the EE?

Not that I've seen, but babies wear crotchless shorts all the time. Diapers aren't popular here, too expensive.

Games are region free, but movies are not.

I'm pretty sure as far as blu-ray goes, Japan and the US share the same region. Not 100% sure on that though.

Thanks for the info, did a quick search and found this:

* Region 1: North America, South America, East Asia except for China (India, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia etc.)
* Region 2: Europe and Africa
* Region 3: China, Russia and other countries

So I guess by that, if it was a Chinese PS3 (wonder if there's a way to tell), then I wouldn't be able to watch Blu-Ray... That kind of sucks. Lots of video game things are imported from Japan here including consoles.

Well right now 60GB should have EE. As far as I know, Sony hasnt release PS3 in China, so it should be Japanese or the Asian PS3.

Ah thanks for that... I've seen many of them in shops. I'm guessing they come from Japan... I'll see if I can get one of my Chinese friends to ask next time I go.
FYI, you won't be able to play US PS2 games on an Asian/JPN PS3.
Well that's a deal breaker. Thanks for letting me know.
