Play-Asia is now accepting pre-orders on a limited basis for the Assassin's Creed Collector's Edition, available for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC at $59.90. The Collector's Edition features a 12 inch Altair figure. The prototype (the finished product will be in color) is pictured at the left with more photos available on the product page. Play-Asia is selling the Asian version, but the game is already confirmed region free. The USA Collector's Edition is expected to cost $100.

This is a pre-order only and you will not be charged until the item actually ships (estimated March 2007). You can cancel anytime before then via Play-Asia's website. The cheapest shipping option to the USA is $15.20.

Hm, kinda wish I didn't cancel mine yesterday after having it riding for over a year. I just figured nothing would ever come of it.
 
I haven't gotten my email yet cancelling it. For anyone who did did the price change or did they lower the shipping on it? It was 15.20 to ship it to the us
 
Never have I found getting information on a game as frustrating as this one. Less than two weeks away from release, I still am not sure what's in the limited edition version(s), and I have yet to see an unbiased comparative review of the various platforms. (Actually, I'm not sure I've yest seen a review based on final code for any version.)

I really really want to love this game and buy the most extravagant fancypants version available, but Ubisoft is making it very, very hard to do so. And that worries me, so I'm sitting on my cash for now. I really hope I don't regret it, but...
 
just got the email. it says i will get a $10 gift certificate for a future purchase. pretty lame. i don't plan on ordering from them again.

however, the order summary page still lists the old order with 12" figure. dont know if i should cancel.
 
I got the same e-mail. If they bump the shipping down to the standard charge, instead of the insane $12 it's at now, maybe I'll keep it.

The thing that worries me is that the Asia version of AC for the 360 shows it as being NTSC-J, might not work on systems outside of Japan.
 
I cancelled my preorder today. $75 just seems too expensive for the game plus a figurine that I have no use for. I think I'll just wait on this game since I got some others to catch up on once my xbox comes back.
 
I got the Limited Edition from Gamestop, and let me just say the figure is shitty. The penny arcade comic is worthless also. The only good thing is the steel case, which is kind of cool. Its also like the WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2007 CE case that has the metal case and the actual game box inside.
