Assassin's Creed PSP Bundle $139 at Dell.com

I'm trying to justify buying this since it's a really good deal but there just isn't enough on the PSP for me to go for it.

How many GBs does a PSP come with? I been wanting to get a new iPod but I'm thinking of picking up a PSP instead so I can play games and listen to music.

There is no internal memory AFAIK. On the Go, there is like 16GB or something, but the 3000 model requires a Memory Stick Duo card.

A psp doesn't have any physical memory but you can use a memory stick as high as a 16gb. I'm not really clear or even know if it can go higher. A pspGO has 16gb built in upgradable to 32 with a memory stick.

Thanks, I just need to find a place that sells the Memory Stick Duo Card for cheap before I bite on this deal. I found that there is a 32GB Memory Stick Pro Duo Combo that works with the PSP-3000 but its $89.99, the total with the PSP would exceed the amount I'd pay for a iPod 160GB Classic. I'll keep hunting though.

Anyone know a site that sells Memory Stick Duo cards cheap?

Unfortunately, since they're sort of Sony proprietary memory cards, it means less competition than SD cards, which means higher cost per GB, which means you're not going to find it for super cheap. Newegg is probably about as good as it gets.

The bundle comes with a 2GB memory stick so no real need to buy another unless you need more space for something.

Edit - If you do need a lot of space one option is to buy a dual slot micro SDHC to MS Pro Duo adapter then pick up a couple of SDHC cards cheap.
I got an 8GB SanDisk card from Newegg for about $22 shipped, Amazon sometimes has resellers with lower prices but the shipping kills it.
I'll look into that than. Thanks.

Yeah I seem to be finding no luck. Good news is that this bundle comes with 2GB Memory Stick which is a good 2-6 Albums worth of music. I'm going to give my brain sometime to maul this information and deal over before making a final decision. As my biggest concern is the announcement of a PSP 2 this year, since its been almost 6 years since the original PSP launched.

Gonna go pace back and forth now. Thanks you two.

Can you clarify this statement with further explanation? I am confused.

Adorama is a great place to buy Memory Stick--here's a stellar deal:

16GB MS Pro Duo (Lexar) - $44.95

Yes, you can buy a dual-port MicroSD-to-MS Pro Duo adapter, but because you're still technically using 2 separate cards (eg. 8GB + 8GB = 16GB), the PSP has lots of read/write issues, especially when large files (eg. game installs) try to write across the memory gap.

I did a lot of research before investing further into memory for my PSP, and concluded that the 16GB Lexar MS Pro Duo off of Adorama was the best deal all around. Definitely happy with that decision: 16GB's is a ton of room for your PSP, and the latest version of SONY's free MediaGo software has made it much easier to manage files on the PSP.
Does the game come with a case or in a cardboard sleeve?
Can't verify, but if it's like the Daxter bundle from a few years ago, all you'll get is the UMD.

Don't get anything under 4 gigs, which would be my advice. An 8+ gig one is recommended. One of the things I love about the PSP is PS1 games, so say you get FF7, that's like 1.5 gigs right there.

Great deal but damned shipping and handling to Hawaii kills it for me. With S&H and tax it comes out to $162. :( I don't think I'll be able to find the white PSP anywhere for this kind of price, nonetheless, so I'll probably bite after convincing myself for a while.
anyone know how long this coupon is valid for?
It said until this Thursday.

Don't buy a PSP for music. You can't play music and walk around with it as a slight touch on the face or shoulder buttons will skip or fast-forward the track. It is only useful if you can place it on a desk or someplace it won't move or be touched. It's not very user-friendly for media storage, a little reading and research will be required in order to add music/video in such a way that the device recognizes it. Lastly, it just does not have all the playback options of an iPod or similar mp3 device.
Get it for the many great games on the system, and get an mp3 player for the music. Or get a iPod touch and enjoy gaming on that as well as music.

Well i didn't bite cause I'm weighing my final options right now. I really need a music player but as you said PSP doesn't seem like something that can do that with ease. There are a ton of PSP games I do want to play and so I'm still torn on getting it. Really wish I didn't live in California, Sales Tax here murderously high.

Personally, I just think it's way too massive to be just an mp3 player, more than any other reason against it being an mp3 player.

I believe this is untrue.

The PSP has a "hold" button (push the power button down instead of up). This locks out all the buttons. I've never used it while listening to music, but I do use it a lot when eating lunch and watching a movie. It prevents the PSP from skipping ahead or back when the shoulder buttons accidentally get jostled. Should work the same for music.

However, I'd say it's too big and unwieldy for a music player too. Personally, I love it. Movies on UMD are dirt cheap these days, and the PSP has a substantial library of games. It's very versatile. I can't get over having basically a PS2 that fits in your pocket!

The PSP is too large as an mp3 player, and if I recall the max volume for music doesn't get really loud like an iPod can.

Also, psp isn't quite as sturdy as most mp3 player. A very small bump on UMD section might cause you to see a UMD open error despite that your tray is closed.
