At what point do I need to be concerned

I bought a game a little over a week ago from an "anonymous" user and he said he would mail the game between Wed and Fri of last week. I have not been able to get ahold of him on this site or email. My question - when do I need to be concerned. He has over 19 + on his feedback which is why I bought from him but now going on about 1 week and a half I am getting a little worried.

He is pretty well known around here, so I doubt he'd be scamming you.

He hasn't signed in since 8/16/07 though. Maybe he went on a vacation, or something?

IMO, you should've PM'ed a mod, instead of making a thread about this. And I certainly wouldn't have mentioned his name.

Yeah, just check the day that he last signed in. I was in the same situation, only I was the bad guy. I was having internet trouble, thats why I couldnt contact the other person, so maybe he is to?

I also think ~a week from shipping date is too soon to start worrying. Give it more time before working with mods and whatnot. For now, you should edit your post to remove his username.

I have dealt with this fellow many time in the past. I promise you he has a good reason for his lack of activity.

He's as honest a trader as you will find on these boards.

Yeah thats all well and good but even if his internet connection is down I assume he is still alive and can make it to the post office. It shouldn't take a week to get here. There are numerous other ways to contact someone if your having internet problems. Especially if you have taken someones money for an item. I apologize for mentioning his name but I bought the item from him not a ghost user.

Ok thats cool, that was what I was looking for, someone that has known the anonymous user from previous dealings. I would not be worried a week in, but I have shipped 100's of items and when they ship first class it never takes over a week to arrive. That coupled with my inability to get ahold of the use was why I was concerned.

Maybe he shipped media mail? if he shipped Friday, it' only be 5 days

Hell even if he shipped first class, takes 2(3?)-5

So depending on when it shipped, isn't it too early?

Maybe he did ship media mail, I wouldn't know. Maybe he is walking the game directly to my house. It could be any of those things. I am not calling the police and filing a pay pal dispute. I was basically looking for someone who has dealt with the guy in the past that might know him better than I do who could give me a vote of confidence. That was done and now I am not worried about it.
Oh, I completely understand, no need to get defensive over my post.

I would do the same thing, if i was in your spot
Yeah thats cool, I apologize for getting lippy:)

Who knows... you never know when you're going to get screwed. I waited for a guy who had 20+ positive feedback because I trusted him and I lost out on $45. He hasn't appeared since.

OK well follow up is that the seller finally got in touch with me, told me he left town and forgot to ship out the game. He said he would refund me 5.00 and ship the item out priority shipping on Friday or refund the full amount. I responded telling him i would take the refund of the shipping and that mailing the game priority would be fine. I never got a response to this. Now as of today I have not received the refund or the game and all emails are not being being answered. Maybe it's just me but if you messed up a deal with a person like this seller did, wouldn't you at the very least respond to an email. I do not care how busy you are, if you got the time to sell an item and list it then you should make the time to see the transaction through to completion.

I would, but some people are strange.

Well.. to be honest, in my opinon.. you're kind of overreacting. Some people have lives beyond CAG. How long ago did he respond to you, anyways?

Just be patient, if he was out to scam you or whatever, he wouldn't have bothered to respond.

He had the time to list the item on CAG, he had the time to accept the payment. Now when it comes time to follow through on his end of the deal, he has a life outside of CAG We all have lives or at least I hope we do, but we are about 2 weeks into this transaction, he has forgot to send the package, then lied about when he would resend the package, how exactly is this overreacting. See I am a little weird, because if I spend my money I would like to receive the item I purchased in a somewhat timely manner. Maybe thats just me overreacting.

If he sent it Friday priority, it could still show up tomorrow within USPS guidelines (2-3 business days).

It's always good to be cautious (especially since he forgot about it the first time), but I think it's unnecessary to freak out at every step and post about it. I still think you should wait it out, and if he eventually bails out again, contact a mod.

I can see where socio is coming from. I had a similar situation that thankfully ended fairly. I sent my stuff on the day we agreed to. My stuff got there, but I didn't get anything. After a couple of no-replies, I was getting worried. Two weeks later, I finally got my stuff.

Be patient, but I'd say more than two weeks is pushing it.

yeah my only concern was that he never replied to the email i sent him telling him which option I chose, also he never sent the 5.00 refund that he discussed with me. I am just the type of guy that if I sell something I feel obligated to take the situation seriously and make sure everyone leaves the situation happy. I take exception to the term "freaking out". I am not going hysterical, i am just feeling less and less optimistic as each day passes.

It's just there's not much more we can tell you aside from be patient, so up-to-the-minute updates and telling us your trader expectations just seem kind of unnecessary and defensive.

up to the minute updates, that might be a bit of an exaggeration don't you think. Feel free to not check in for my latest update in about 45 seconds or so:)
