Atari Flashback 3 for $49.99 back in stock.

The first ones were like $30-$40 at launch IIRC. The Flashback 1 was basically an NES-on-a-chip, which is bizarre but it wasn't too horrible. The Flashback 2 was a "true" 2600 in the sense it was a 2600-on-a-chip, designed to be almost identical to the original hardware (so it wasn't emulation at all, and you could hack a cartridge port and play almost any 2600 game). The Flashback 3 is back to being a system-on-a-chip which is running the 2600 games via emulation, so it's not quite as good as the 2 or 2+.

The good side is the joysticks from the 2, 2+, and 3 are all identical to original 2600 sticks so they're good if you need replacements for a real system.

Here is a review with a lot of good backstory: http://www.armchairarcade.com/neo/node/4346

These were $25 at Toys R Us on Black Friday...so MSRP plus not being as good as the Flashback 2 makes it an iffy buy IMO.

What he said--Justin knows his stuff. The FB 3 is also missing a few key games that the FB2 had.
