Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana - going to be rare?

I couldn't find it myself, so I thought maybe someone here might be able to shed some light on the subject for me. What is the print run for Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana and/or how rare is this going to become - if at all? I ask because I have enough Wherehouse credit to buy a new game, and this is one I have had my eyes on for awhile. Obviously, like just about every other CAGer, I am up to my neck in unopened games, so I want to know if I should jump on this now (Disgaea) or if I can wait on it (Phantom Brave)...? Thanks for anyone's help! ^_^

i say wait

I've been wondering too - seeing how Phantom Brave dropped so quickly, I'm biting my lip and holding out for a price drop on this one.

I'm only a couple hours into the game, but so far it's decent. The synthesis skill is really fun; you can make weapons and items as well as recipes for shops. These recipes (items) can then be bought. It's more complicated then that, but that's the gist.

The battle engine is standard FF 2D fighting. It's fun, though, but I havent fought too many random battles yet.

I bet this thing will be a cult game I'd say pick it up if you have any inkling of playing it ever. If you dont, just wait and grab it on ebay...but follow the pricing in the coming weeks/months. It might go up. You never know.

But buying this game will help guarantee further Japanese ports coming over. Atlus is another company that has been THANKFULLY shipping games over here that normally wouldnt. Companies that take chances and release Japanese games like this should be commended by purchasing their games.

I hope it doesn't become rare, I really want this game but I don't like paying full price. I think I'm going to wait until it's $30 or below.

Couldn't agree more. If it doesn't go on sale soon I might just buy it off ebay.

I'm about 25 hours in, and I'm loving it. The game has a great sense of humor, item synthesis is really fun and the characters are very likeable. I don't know if it'll be rare in the future, but I definitely feel it's worth the full price I paid for it.

It just came out, so I guess there is time to wait it out. I just hate it when a game comes out with a limited print run, sells quick, and then unless you want to fork over the cash, you'll never play it.

I just don't need anymore unopened games, heh. =P

well between this n Stella Deus its a toss up, plus Makai Kingdom is hot on thier heels, keep in mind that Disgaea did drop for a little while to around $29.99 before shooting up, I save so much money on all my other games thanks to CAG that I grab all Atlus & NIS games at launch to save myself the frustration of Ebay, I already Pre-ordered my Makai Kingdom guide from Doublejump...Sqauresoft games are pumped in so much bulk that patience isnt even an issue.

id ask where banky was bat analog stole his line.

if you want the game, buy it.
if you dont want the game, dont buy it.

games make awful long term investments.

yep. Too bad, I want it, but not for $50. If it doesn't drop, and only goes up in value, I'll be ok. But I'd like to get it for $25 or under.

Unless NIS is trying really hard to make this rare, there should be a second shippment to place like EB and gamestop. They also want to make sure people can the first game when they release the sequal.

That's the problem, heh. I'm not trying to make an investment. I just want to play the game eventually without having to hunt a copy down and pay a ton for it on eBay, if it is short-printed and prices soar in the coming months. I don't have any friends who play RPGs, so if I don't buy something, then I am SOL without getting lucky.

rent it, or buy it then beat it and sell it, then wait and see what happens

Considering that the game was distributed by Atlus, there is a prety good chance that it will be rare: Disgaea, Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne, Sky Gunner, ... (not necessarily valuable, but rare). Nippon Ichi distributed Phantom Brave and they tend to flood the market, hence prices on their game drop quickly. Also Mastiff produced a lot of La Pucelle Tactics, again another relatively inexpensive game. If you wait you should be able to pick up Alter cheap in 1 of Game Stop's buy 2 get 1 free used games sales.

I reluctantly paid full price on the release date, but I don't regret it for a second. It completely blew me away. I'm actually glad I (along with so many others, it seems) I shelled out the cash for this one, since the odds are likely getting more and more in our favor for a domestic release of the sequel.
Perhaps NIS learned its lesson after Phantom Brave and ran a smaller print with Atelier, but the odds of a second run are much higher than titles like Stella Deus and Riviera. I just hope I can pick up Makai Kingdom for under $30 at some point, now that I can't afford another full-priced game.

NIS published Atelier Iris, not Atlus.

Uh, this is a NIS game, not Atlus.

The reason why there was such a short first run is because they got burned on Phantom brave. However, If everyone ios selling out, they are sure to distirbute more copies.

On a different note, I'm really torn on this game. I think the graphics are a beauty, the sound is near flawless (including the voicework), and the game was translated extremely well and is one of the funniest games I've played in a long time.

HOWEVER, the plot is virtually non-existant. The game is excruciatingly linear, and over half of it is MANDATORY FETCH QUESTS. They try and disguise them, but make no mistake, they are fetch quests, and they get really fucking annoying and slow down a plot thats already uncompelling and moves at the speed of molasses.

This game is all style, no substance. I don't know if I can recommend paying full price, but its definately worth a rental or a borrow to see if they good outweighs the bad for you.

Yes, but Atlus is still the distributor for NIS America. Though that probably only means NIS uses Atlus' typical sales channels (probably why my order at Overstock was cancelled due to low numbers). It's a pretty fun game and if you get past the 2D visuals, this game has a ton of features with great music and a battle system close to FFX. It's fun and I'm glad I got it for $50 (plus the soundtrack ;) )

I think after Phantom Brave NIS is distributing their own games.

Nope, it still says "distributed exclusively by ATLUS U.S.A." on the back of the AI:EM case...
