Avatar problem

It says 'this is an invalid image file'.

Then how can I post it here?

i am having trouble getting a picture as my avatar or profile picture..... it keeps saying upload failed...i also tried pulling it from a website and that did not work ether... i am prob. just being stupid but can some one help me.
