Is this your first?

Ours is due on August 11th, but on the last month I hear all bets are off. I'm hoping atleast for a late July arrival...I'm not ready yet.

Way to queer up the whole zero population growth thing, javeryh. :applause:

Just kidding! Congratulations!!
Amateurs!

My last kid (now 4) was 11 lbs at birth (normal birth too - my wife's a trooper). We just found out our next one (and last) is yet another boy. Maybe he'll be 12 lbs! (Our 3 were girl - 8 lbs 11 oz, boy - 8 lbs 8 oz, and boy - 11 lbs 0 oz) And no, there wasn't the slightest hint of gestational diabetes (which can result in over-sized babies). He's just a big boy - he's now 10 pounds heavier than and nearly as tall as his 7 year-old brother.

We didn't find out what any of the others were before birth but on this one we just found out last week (not due till November) because my wife and daughter wanted a girl... d'oh!

The good news (for him, anyway) is that it was obvious he was a boy in the ultrasound.

Anyway, congrats javeryh. Now you have to grow up and get a *real* job.
bah, lightweights... i was 13 pounds 8 ounces. I could take on your son.
btw, im now 6'3", 17, and 160 pounds without any risk of diabeetus

oh yeah, and congrats. now make him an arcade cabinet and do that whole super dad thing again
"Er, that's the umbilical cord."

The diabetes thing is not standard diabetes - it is gestational diabetes. That is something women can get while pregnant and it can result in large babies. It does not mean large babies have a higher risk of diabetes. Often, the abnormally large babies (13lbs+) are a result of it though.

Good lord, man, get off the computer and EAT! I'm fairly thin but I outweigh you with 5 inches less height ;). Kids are funny though - my two boys are complete opposites (so much so that people give me funny looks sometimes  - no, one is NOT the mailman's kid!). My older son is very skinny and my youngest is a beast. The older one is better at video games though. So I figure pro gaming for one, pro football for the other. Hey, they have to pay their ways through college somehow - no way I can afford to send 4 kids! The third one (coming November) can be the smart one.

Anyway, javeryh, how old is your other one? Does he (or she?) game yet? My youngest was content to hold an old PS1 controller with the cord cut off (that I got at Target for $5) and pretend to play while we played. But once he hit 2 1/2 or so he caught on to that trick and insisted on playing himself ;).

She's 2 years and 9 months. I've been having her hold a controller since she was born but she hasn't really shown an interest until about a month ago - she insists on playing Pac-man C.E. whenever I am playing it but I don't think she quite understands how it all works. I'm hoping it clicks soon though. I think it is going to be really fun playing video games together - especially something like Rock Band but we've got a while to go...

I think baby boys are just the sweetest but I have to admit to never having had a baby girl! ;) Congrats and best wishes to all of you!
