Check your local Blockbuster for $9.99 disc only games. Combine that with the current B2G1 free deal and you can get some quality games cheap.

My local Blockbuster on 33rd Street (between 3rd and Lex) in Manhattan has mostly Gamecube games, some good titles, such as:

Super Smash Bros.
Pikman 2
Mario Kart Double Dash
Rebel Assault III
Metroid Prime

Some xbox titles too:
Madden 2005
KOTOR II

blockbusters disc only (for 9.99) game collection is as YMMV as they come. Both locations near me have nothing but crap titles. But some have a really great selection as a bunch of CAG's have found out

found a REZ (disc only)at a GR in NC once for 12.99.. didn't get on it because upon inspection of the disc it was heavily scratched.

I used this sale about a month ago.Got:

GTA:SA PS2
AC5 PS2
The Punisher PS2

All disc only,but all 3 for $21.

My local Blockbuster was offering a deal on getting punched in the face for $9.99, buy 2 punches get 1 free. I had to jump on that deal!

i did this deal about 2 months which i got in h-town were

thug2 (xbox)
gta:sa (ps2)
halo 2 (xbox)
burnout 3 (xbox)

someone did made mention to specific location where this deal was happening in houston

I bought a ton of disc only and traded them in with the gamestop + 50% deal. I paid about 7 for a GTA and got $24 in credit. Also, some rhino games will accept 2 disc only for any new title.

Doom 3 Xbox - 10 Bucks
God of War PS2 - 10 Bucks
Gran Turismo 4 PS2 - 10 Bucks

With my employee discount and our buy 2 "Used" games get one free and a trade in of The original NFSU the total was.

$1.06

The catch is that these games are "Used" although I think they mave have been "extra's" that were going to be used for rental but never were because they are in too perfect of a condition. The other catch is that the games came extremely no frills. As in just the disc and a clear amaray.

Being that I work at the store though I was able to delve into the "spare" cover art's and manuals and wound up with the complete package.

Dont know if its nationwide or just my store but we got about 10 full boxes of "surprize" games. All priced at 10 bucks. Distribution might be sending these boxes out to everyone, so be sure to check at your local Blockbuster. The technical term for these things are PREPAK PPG W/O COVER ART. Go in and ask. They might be in the back as mine were. I think its worth the trouble. One of my Co-workers even somehow discovered the game that he has been searching years for. MARVEL VS CAPCOM 2 FOR THE PS2!!! Anything could possibly be in those boxes!

Im very broke right now so I couldnt really cash in, but on Friday Ill be picking some more up. Even if its just to trade into Gamestop.

Others that I came across:

Splinter Cell CT: Xbox
NBA Street V3 : All systems
Vice City : PS2
Kingdom Under Fire : Xbox
Zelda Four Swords : GC
MVP Baseball 2005: All systems
NBA Live 2005 : All systems
Twin Snakes : GC
NFSU2 : All systems

There were so many others but thats all I really remember at this point.

Yep, my local Blockbusters have some great $9.99 disc-only games. They've been doing that for quite a while now. I haven't gone back there, since I don't want to keep stacking my pile of unplayed games, but my friends have gotten some great deals like KOTOR 2, GTA: SA (Xbox), Star Wars Episode 3 (Xbox, PS2) and other titles for $9.99. The only thing about my Blockbusters is that most of the good, newer games are PS2. They have a small smattering of Xbox games, and almost no GameCube games (if they have GameCube games, they all suck).

This is really odd because the Gamerush and regular Blockbusters around me certainly have disc-only games but they are the same price as any other used game of the same title. They were trade-ins that came in that way. Since this seems to be some sort of overstock from BB corporate this is a different category I guess. Still strange that you would get an excellent condition disc-only new release game for $9.99 and yet a crappy beat up copy of an older game disc-only for $20 or something :D.

Do these BB's also sell disc-only games that are NOT $9.99, like the ones around here? Is this only in certain markets?

Here's the official response from a former BB slave:
Those 'PREPAK W/O COVER ART' games are refurb/repair units from corporate office. Now that they changed the stickers since I left, I'm not sure if they say that anymore. If you find games like that for super cheap compared to ones with the artwork, that's exactly what they are. You have to be a little careful what condition they are in. Some are perfect, and others look like they got DJ'ed on the parking lot.

I remember last year picking up Madden 2004, NHL 2004, GTA VC and some other decent game for $8 after discount. We had the artwork for them in the back, too.

If you're cool with your EB guys, you can get the artwork and manuals.

Hmmm. very tempting, but I just hate having to find a case to put the games in... especially if they're good games that I would like to keep in my library for a while to come. :whistle2:k

The clear cases they now use are actually very nice. With artwork, you would barely be able to tell in a library.

Can't believe more people aren't jumping on this deal. Here's what I got today (in NYC):

God of War
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
Sly 2
Gran Turismo 4
Star Wars Battlefront
Metal Gear Solid 3
Jak 3
Lego Star Wars

I then went to EB, where the clerk gave me cases/manuals to complete about half of these games.

Gonna head over to Blockbuster this week once I get my free rental coupons... not that its that far of a drive, but I'm expecting absolutely nothing to look at, so it'd still be a waste of a trip.
