Not sure when specifically, but pretty soon. I found the marketing for it yesterday, and the marketing rolls over on Tuesday; I'll update when I know the specific dates. Just figured some of you might want to hold off on buying any used games you were waiting on.

update 03/25: as everyone has now said, it starts on april 2nd. glad i was able to give you guys a bit of a heads up.
I absolutely HATE all those stickers EB puts on its used games. They are a pain to take off completely. I was talking to the EB employee and he said since they are bought out by GS, they are only putting on the price stickers now and not all those extra bullshit stickers all over the case. I am so glad. It seems the GS stickers peel off much more easily than the EB ones. Hopefully EB uses the GS stickers as well.
I hate those stickers too, they are pain in butt to get rid of until I got goo gone.It makes life a hell lot easier.
All the gamestops around here are using yellow ebgames stickers now. I was pissed when I bought a few things because it's impossible to take off the sticker cleanly.
I noticed that too, and it really sucks.

^Does this mean that all stickers for EB/GS are going to be yellow?
I noticed some gameboy advance games at my local gamestop with the traditional gamestop pricetag, but yellow instead of white.

I've been to a bunch of gamestops the past few days. I noticed the yellow stickers on top of the old white gamestop stickers.

I can confirm the yellow stickers are there to stay...at least for now.

Does each individual store price-match other local EB games? I know for a fact that every GS and EB has a B2G1 Free DVD sale except for one - and that one has most of the DBZ DVDs I need! Are there any loopholes that I can use JUST IN CASE the B2G1 sale that supposedly starts 4/2 doesn't go into effect? It's ridiculous...it's not like people go to EB thinking "Oh, how, I'll look for some nice DVDs today at a game shop. They might just have what I'm looking for!" I don't understand why this one specific EB within a 20 mile range doesn't offer the deal, that's all.

I think they actually took the buy 2 get 1 free on DVD's away, the gamestops near me did at least. Not sure about the EB's. Buy 2 get 1 free does start the 2nd for sure, no word yet on if it includes DVDs though

See, while I'd love to do this:

Grandia 3 - $44.99
Tales of Legendia - $44.99
Random $44.99 game to sell on Ebay to recoup some costs - Free

I just have this big sinking feeling that Tales of Legendia or Grandia 3 will drop to $29.99 brand new soon, and I'd save more money getting both games that way.

Paying more than $29.99 ever for any game is just silly, save a few exceptions :applause:

Do what I do.Alway pick up 2 rare game ebay them and get the last game free.

Here some suggestion

Bracket
$45-Digital Saga 1,Magna Carta,,Marvel vs Capcom 2,Disgaea,Nocturne
40-gallop racer 2004,zelda collector edition
30-pto iv,bust move 3000,zelda master quest,
25-metal substance,firefighter fd,suikoden 3,baldur gate dark alliance,shadow hearts 1,nintendogs best friends,ncaa 2k3 college basketball gc

I'm tempted to get Zelda Collector's Edition with this sale, since I'll never have a chance to get it for $30 with the morning update gone, but I don't know what to pair with it. Cubivore comes to mind, but that and RE2 and 3 still seem overpriced.

You won't get much of a profit for Disgaea, Nocturne, Zelda Collectors Edition, and a bunch of other games you listed.

Anyone here know if GS will ever have their "trade in 3 games get $10 extra trade in value" deal anymore?

Last time I saw this was summer/fall 2005, which is when EB/GS was in the beginning stages of coming together so GS was still pretty much on it's own. I'm getting worried I won't see this for a while because there are so many PS2/GC/Xbox games that can be had for $2-$5.

As long as you get close to what you paid for them, the third game would be free or nearly so.

Not for profit, but to break even and get the last game free or for a few dollars
Not for profit, but to break even and get the last game free or for a few dollars
Oh, didn't know you meant that. Yeah, I guess that's an idea if you just want one of the games..
Instead of buying several expensive games, I usually opt for buying tons of older, cheaper games that I've been meaning to play but never have.
SAME here. I find it funny how many people rush out to buy expensive games. Just because the games are cheap doesn't mean the still don't have the same quality of gameplay they had when new/expensive. Besides, if some of them don't turn out to be something you want to keep, you can alway eBay em and make back some of the money you spent on em.

Heck, doing that way, you can come out cheaper than a typical game rental fee. :}

I usually do the same thing.

But if you don't want to keep it, the best thing to do is to return the game within 10 days to get a refund..

hehe...*thinks about the Starcraft 64 cart only :( I saw at Gamestop*

Darn, still, $24.99 can't beat Gamecrazy's price of $9.99 but it can't be found.

But if I make it my 3rd free game, Starcraft 64 would be an awesome addition to my collection...errr, but then again, looking for a separate manual will kill many a brain cells!!!!!!!! And some hair pulling.

I usually pick up enough of the cheaper games that I don't get a chance to play far enough into them (within 10 days) to be able to tell for sure if I want to keep it or not...lol. I mean, I usually just rent 1 game for a week and I'm able to tell if it's something I want to buy later or not.

The last time I sold some games on eBay, I had picked up most of them from a B2G1 free sale for less than $9.99 (not even counting that I got 1 for free...i.e. average price was less than $6). When I sold the games on eBay, I got an average of $5 each. So, it was basically a $1 "rental fee" to check them out for as long as I wanted, then, get rid of them when I was ready.

Also, not all the games I sold on eBay were purchased thru GS/EB. So, I would only have been able to get their trade-in credit for the others (which is usually around/less $1.00 for cheaper games).

Ok, here's a tricky one.

If I buy the three games I want tommorrow, and then the sale happens April 2nd, can I bring my receipt and get a refund on the third (cheapest) game?

Would I need all three games, or just the receipt?

Just the receipt, but call ahead. They aren't required to do it for you so make sure you talk to someone who says you can do it.

Awesome, I figured I'm going to get the jump on everyone this way.

Let's say one GS / EB dosen't have three games I want. Is it possible to buy three used games from different places, return them all to one EB / GS, and then return / rebuy?

Yep, that's sort of what I did. But again, didn't need the games, just the receipt. Bought three at one store (honestly without knowledge of a B2G1F), called and took the receipt to my local GS to get the credit back on the third game.

Mine were on the same receipt, but if they're all within the last 7 days, I can't see how it's any diferent.

Gotcha.

There's three stores that the locator says have both games I want, so I think I'll be ok.

They will give you a hard time returning the free game...or at least they did for me last time (I got DW4 and it sucked)...they said I could exchange it though which is pretty good I guess...

Do they give you a hard time about buying the games like Thursday and then returning them on Sunday in order to get the B2G1 free deal? Or am I going to have to argue with the manager for like 20 minutes to make this work?
he's just trying to buy the 3 games now and get the 3rd game for free on sunday =p
Exactly... since employees still seem to be clueless I'm just going to grab my things now.

I hope to get Tales of Legendia, Grandia 3, and then Legend of Zelda: Collectors Edition, and sell the LoZ and Ebay for $40 so I'll really only be paying roughly $40 for ToL and Grandia 3.

I'm not going to open them, so even if they DO give me a hard time, I will just return all three and tell them I want to immediately rebuy them.

Dude!!! THANKS!

I just went to ebgames.com and this code works. I was able to pick up MGS2: Substance for $24.99, and my free game was KingdomHearts ($18) With tax and shipping I got both games for just under $30.

Unfortunately, I wasnt able to stack the saver code, and the Edge card no longer seems to work.

But I was surprised to see that they had Substance in stock! :D

Its not hoarders I'm worried about, its the employees.

I give up anyways, I can't find a store that has all three games in stock, its either 1 or 2 but never all 3... I'll just wait for some price drops. I guess I'll have to wait until Sunday, and have to hit a couple of different stores to do some exchanges to get 3 games I want.

I've never done it, but I assume they'd let you. I want to do this but I'm broke and won't have any cash until Sunday which is when the sale starts.

I finally found a store that has all three games in stock:

Tales of Legendia - $40.49 after 10% discount
Grandia 3 - $40.49 after 10% discount
Legend of Zelda: Collectors Edition - Free when I get it adjusted on Sunday.

Will end up being $88 for Grandia 3 and ToL after tax, I'm hoping to sell Zelda for $45 to make it around $43 for both games.

Hmm... I wonder if I would be better off just geting 2 LoZ: CEs and Cubivore, either returning or selling the second CE. Since there aren't any other games I'm willing to spend that much on.

Although if I returned it, I'd have to find something to spend $40 credit on. Not hard, but wouldn't necessarily be the most efficient use.

Reminds me of when TRU had B2G1 sale on new stuff. I would just sell two games and keep the one for a cost of maybe $5. Worked out well since Resident Evil 4 just came out for ps2 and it was in demand for close to retail on eBay.

I've been meaning to put up Zelda:CE for a while now, but I haven't done it yet. I only bought it for $10 and it's in great condition.

Wow... I went to a non local Gamestop, talk about assholes. After I called this afternoon, and the girl there not only helped me find all three games, but verified that they were all complete and great shape, I call back a second time before I make the 35 minute drive up there. Employee sounded kind of... unsure of what to do, but said they were still there.

I go there, tell him they are on hold for me, tell him the three games, and he starts looking through the used games. He tells me they aren't there. I tell him "No, see, I called twice to verify, you even told me they were, I said they were ON HOLD so they shouldn't be in with the regular used games".

His manager, I assume, says "Oh... yea, they are in the hold drawer" What a concept!!! He rings me up, manager is real happy I'm spending $125 in used merchandise because he seems all happy, so I decide to ask about the b2g1 free sale. I tell him that "I heard there is one coming up real soon" to which the manager says "No, there isn't, we haven't heard anything about it" and he immediately starts acting like a douche. I tell him I heard from some friends at a local Gamestop (which is true, but also on here) that it is coming up on April 2nd, and that all GS's should have some sort of signage by now.

He says "Oh, yea, we have that" and I ask him about getting the credit back on the free game on Sunday. He goes "Uh...what...?" so I explain it again. He tells me "no, it's not retroactive, so you won't get a game for free". I said "Well, since I'd still be within the 7 day return policy, I guess I could just return and rebuy all three" to which he just glared at me and walked away.

I should drive the 25 miles back just to make this asshole refund me back the free one.

I would have got in on some PSP games (I own everything worthwhile on the DS imo) but all the game stores here have a very shitty selection.

EDIT: I just realized out of the 3 Grandia III's in that store, those fuckers gave me one with no manual... now I've got to go around town and see if I can exchange it for one with a manual.

Godzilla Destory All Monsters Melee is listed at $17.99 used. Am i better off looking for one on eBay or buying from a CAG'er? $17 for a game that old sounds quite strange...

I always make them show me the manual, and I check the condition of the disc before they complete the transaction. I've been nearly screwed too many times by that chain.

I was in a hurry, unfortunately, this is the ONE TIME I didn't do it.

Luckily, we have about 100 Gamestop's / EB's in our area, lots of them show up as having copies in our area so I'll just phone around and see if I can exchange it at one of them.

Wow,what a douche bag.I never faced such horrible employee's in 30-40 diferrent gamestop or ebgames I went to.They always treat very well, finding the games for me,give me free promo and such. The only bad experience I faced was this one employee who always giving me a hard time returning a defective game, never bother finding the game for me and try to tack on $2 year warrenty without even asking.I report him to the manager and I never saw his ugly mug again.

You should always double check the game.I seen so many cover-less manuals or half manuals. You should double check that the employee are giving you the right game.I purchased shadow heart 1 and employee gave shadow hearts convenant game.not once, but twice.
