As I missed out a few weeks ago when B5 was $19.99 @ BB, this ended up being the next best thing. Especially as I would have had to pay shipping on S1-3, as BB didn't have them in-stock.

All five seasons of Babylon 5 are $22.88 each at Walmart.com and they're currently all in-stock at the time of this post. For a while, all but Season 4 were in-stock, so it was a real bite about not being able to get them all at once.

With Ship-To-Store, I saved on the $9 worth of shipping charges on having them shipped to me, and I'll pick them up in-store in the next 7-10 days. Even without the Ship-to-Store, shipping was either $0.97 or $1.99-$2.49.

This is much cheaper than the next cheaper options, DDD & Amazon.com, though they're $37-$39 w/free shipping.

was fortunate enough to get mine at BB great series, favorite tv show series next to Good V.S. Evil.

I liked this show when it was on. Is this also the price B&M? Don't feel like ordering it. I haven't checked the weeklies in so long that I guess I must have missed this when it was this price at BB.
I've never seen it. How does it compare to Firefly or Star Trek: The Next Generation?
I never got into the B5 series when it was on TV. Just caught a few episodes here and there, and wasn't impressed at all. You've really gotta watch the complete series to appreciate the complexity of the story being told. This is a more dramatic series than action/adventure/comedy-type thing. Alot of politcal drama and mystery. Things causually mentioned in one episode can build up several episodes down the line, so you gotta pay attention.

Production-wise, B5 isn't as flashy as Star Trek or Firefly. Special effects were done with a tight budget, and alot of the CGI space stuff really shows its from the mid 90's (not that its bad...its just not as good as modern CGI).

Thanks. That's kinda what I figured. I think I'll give one season a shot.

this is a good deal as around the time of release it was about 80 bucks :O

I picked up season 2 and 3 from bb when it was 19.99+SH+tax. Season 2, the disc holders came right off the holder when I turned the holders :( I can fix it but I don't have time right now.

its a great series with lots of good stories.

If your a big fan of the show, wait til the end of the month when "The Lost tales" comes out.
Thanks. That's kinda what I figured. I think I'll give one season a shot.
Keep in mind that you really should watch it from the beginning to get all of the backstory, but the first season is by far the worst season of the show. I even stopped watching it mid season, and gave it a break, before coming back to it and watching the rest of it. Season 2 is a huge improvement, and seasons 3 and 4 are some of the greatest seasons of any TV show. The first half of season 5 isn't that great, while the second half is almost Season 3/4 good.

Just power through the first season. It will be worth it when you get to seasons 2-4. I promise.

Also keep in mind that it has some of the first CGI effects for TV, so the CGI looks pretty primitive, but it's much better then miniatures would have been with some of the huge epic space battles that happen during the show.

Some of the acting isn't great (the people who play Londo and G'Kar put the human character actors to shame), but the story is amazing. Honestly Babylon 5 is one of the few shows I wish that I could completely wipe from my memory so I could watch it for the first time again.

I just bought season 1 when BB ran it a few weeks ago. I didn't catch it when it was on tv so i figured i'd try it for the price. It's great as a fan of firefly and Star Trek TNG (as well as the rest of em too hehe) It's comparable. It's a little closer to Deep Space Nine than TNG but it's like firefly in the fact that plot lines are not just single episode shots. The plot develops gradually and just when you think that's the end of a plot line, it shows up a few eps later. Great show so far! I'm hooked enough that when i get some more money i've gotta get the rest of it (and the rest of SG-1 and battlestar galactica (my new shows that I didn't catch when they first aired (Battlestar is still airing but i've got no Idea as to what's going on at the moment) anywho Highly Recommended!!

Mine showed up on Friday at the WM store I had them sent to, though I need to swing buy and pick them up.

Doing a Ship-To-Store is the same as a B&M purchase.

I concur with this and stress that you should not judge Babylon 5 entirely on the 1st season.

This is slightly off topic, but is anyone else looking forward to the Lost Tales coming out next week? I'm really looking forward to seeing more Babylon 5, and I just preordered my copy from Deep Discount.

Hopefully it will sell well enough to get us more direct to DVD episodes of Babylon 5, and maybe even other studios will do direct to DVD episodes of their Sci-fi/fantasy shows (Firefly, Buffy I'm looking your way).

I stuck it out and watched this entire show based on the rave reviews. What a mistake. The story is overrated, the main actor in seasons 2-5 is terrible. Not to mention the lame CGI. Maybe if you haven't seen DS9 you'll like this.

It wasn't the show. It was because you read reviews.

This may be partly true, but even if I hadn't read any reviews I don't think I would've liked it, especially because I have DS9 to compare it to. Maybe if I hadn't seen any DS9, but even that's a stretch.

i never saw filerfly, but the seasons 2 and 3 of b5 are comparable to just about any other sci fi I have seen, and i loved the TNG series, especially from season 4 onwards.

i have seen the entire series, but i would consider picking up seasons 3 and 4 at this price. But i have spent too much money on dvds lately(rome s2 and the wire s3) so i will pass
