I heard that BJ's Wholesale Club has the Babylon 5 series (the repackaged versions, the UPC should start with 088 and not 085) for $14.99. I don't really have one anywhere near me though, so I can't directly confirm.

Edit: I did end up finding them at Sam's Club as well, (the repackaged ones), for $19.88 each. They are new in my area, one of the three Sam's Clubs in the immediate vicinity have them.

The only difference between the two versions are the packaging (Warner Bros finally did away with that really bad packaging they had before where discs would easily break free). I don't think there has been any remaster unfortunately... stupid Warner Bros...

I don't really have one anywhere near me, and I was wondering if anyone sees them there, could they get season 2-5, or any combination of that, for me.

If they have them there, and they are a different price, I'll go as high as $20 each for sure, but please let me know if they are higher. I intend on paying for shipping and hopefully a little profit for anyone that can do this.

I hope they still have them there for that price... pretty much everywhere else I can see has them for $43+ each.

If you think you can help, hopefully we can work something out. Thanks!
Sam's Club has them for 20 each if you can go that route.

I am trying, although none of the Sam's Clubs near me have them either.
Would you care to explain what the "re-packaged" versions have over the non-"re-packaged" versions?
Sure, well the original Babylon 5 packaging sucks... my dad bought them online, and when they were shipped, he constantly received them with multiple discs floating about. Sometimes even the stores would have discs floating about. The plastic pegs holding the discs in place would break easily.

Now, I'm not entirely sure what the inside contents look like, but the repackaging is skinnier (2/3 the width maybe?), and it looks like the double-sized DVD case, similar to video game packaging, encased by cardboard sleeve much like most TV DVD sets. That's about it.. I don't think the transfers have been remastered or anything, unfortunately.

I have the original packaging, which I picked up from WM.com a while back when they were $23 each. Sounds like I could get some multi-disc DVD cases for what I have, use the original cover art and save some space on the shelf.

i'm interested in this newer, repackaged B5... being a huge fan and all. some of my original packaging's banged-up (coz i loan to my friends).

i wish this is available online. does anyone know?

The best online price for the newer packaging I've seen is Deep Discount for $43.79 (Assuming it is the newer packaging based on UPC they have listed on their site).

But I have now seen the newer packaging at Sam's Club (Colorado) for ~$20 and my sister found it at BJ's Wholesale Club (Washington D.C. area) for ~$20 as well.

I'm a huge B5 fan. In fact, it's my favorite sci-fi series OF ALL TIME.

That being said, Blu-Ray or kiss my ass. I've moved on to HD. Otherwise I'm satisfied with digital downloads.

I did buy the 1st season, The Gathering/In The Beginning, and The Lost Tales on DVD.

Now that we are in the HD era so to speak, I'm not going to buy the whole series on DVD then buy them on BR. I've been doing that with some of my regular DVD collection already.

Put out the BRs or bust.

I'd love to have them released on BR because it would probably mean they would fix the long over due problems with the DVDs, but with Warner Bros.'s track record with the series, I'm afraid it probably won't happen (stupid Warner Bros.). I wish they would realize that they would probably make a profit by remastering the CGI and putting them out on BR. I'd definitely buy them, and I know many other people would buy them too.

Although, I watched some DVDs upconverted to 1080p on my parents LCD TV, and the TV just does an amazingly good job of making DVDs look great still... I'm not sure when I'll finally make the jump to HD (and maybe BR)... maybe by the end of the year? But I don't think I'll be replacing many DVDs... at last until I see them greatly reduced in price (also depends on what it is).

Isn't this up to Warner Bros.? I believe I read that he said he won't do another B5 project unless he gets an adequate budget. I'd assume he wouldn't mind Warner Bros. redoing the CGI to finally make an acceptable transfer. Do you have a link?

i stand corrected. you are right. he said he won't do another b5 project.

but the road to BR for B5 is a steep one. i understand there is no source for the CGI (especially the earlier seasons). so they'd have to do it from scratch. ouch.

I ended up getting seasons 2-4 from FYE.com a little while ago when they had b2g1 deal on used dvds. On top of backstage pass I ended up around $42ish for three seasons.

Seeing as how FYE usually has used deals, should be good to go if you don't mind used.

WB is notoriously cheap when it comes to Babylon 5 in general, and yes the CGI was all thrown out deleted whatever you want to call it so it would have to be redone from scratch otherwise it would look like crap blown up to HD levels. Which honestly could be a good thing, it was good for the time, the company they had do The Lost Tales did an amazing job.

At least it is still on film though they would just have to clean it up and do a new transfer for the series in general. Unlike TNG, DS9 and probably Voyager they filmed it, transferred it to tape then did all the editing, so not counting on those in HD any time soon either.

Anyone heard of a deal on the B5 movie collection (other than Big Lots, which is like finding a needle in 20 haystacks)? Once I get that one, my collection will be complete.

There seem to be a couple on eBay currently in the $20-25 range. I'm trying to find one myself. Almost got a couple of people to get it for me from Big Lots, but they wanted to trade (which I don't have anything really to trade), or they didn't go back soon enough to buy it

I wish some place like Sam's Club or similar would see the movie collection.

EDIT: The Amazon marketplace has it for $23 shipped from Newbury Comics. Not a bad price.
