read the reviews on amazon or cnet. i think i remember someone writing that if you remove the speaker from the stand a screw inside comes off with NO way to reattach. the worst part is it VOIDS the warranty. i'll try to find the link/post later but buyer beware.

on another note, i'm about to pull the trigger. are these good for fairly large family room surround system setup. i've got the xbox, tv, dvd, tivo, and pc. how many outlets/power hookups does this setup require?
 
These things will fill up a room. They're really a pretty good starting HT setup as it's so much less of a hassle than the whole A/V receiver with wires, etc.

It's got a 6Ch Direct hookup for PCs (front speakers, rear satellites, subwoofer), one coax, one optical, and one extra stereo hookup on the side, making a total of 4 components if you're using a PC. Otherwise, those three ports can be converted for speaker output. It does have DPLII decoding and DTS, 5.1, so it's good to go out of the box.

Only one thing is powered, which is the 'woofer. Which is huge.

did you have to pay with the new credit card, or did it give you other payment options?

I believe you had to pay with Amazon's card. It automatically switched your billing info to it. I didn't look into it much because you get 3 points per dollar spent on AMZ and 1 point per dollar spend elsewhere. You need 2500 points for a $25 gift certificate.
 
fuck...the free shipping is gone. its trying to charge me $276 shipped because its from a retailer other than amazon.com.

oh well...anyone know how often this deal comes around? i know the price dropped on these at most places. if i'd only ordered last night instead of pre new years partying :beer:
