Bad DeepDiscountDVD Experience

GuyWithGun

CAGiversary!
DeepDiscountDVD is trying to rip me off.

At the last 20% off sale I had a good sized order. I got a large first shipment with two copies of Harvey Birdman in it. I only purchased one. So being the good citizen that I am, I try and be honest and I e-mail them and let them know that I got an extra copy.

They e-mail me a shipping label, I box it up in their original box, and drop it off at the Post Office. They then refund my money for that dvd. Again, me trying to be and honest person, I let them know that it was an extra copy that I was returning. So they then charge my credit card for the same amount of the accidental refund.

I get an e-mail telling me that for some reason, my card didn't go through, and they needed another form of payment to re-charge me. I try emailing them back for a couple weeks, but my emails get returned. So I email them again and they tell me to call them. So I call them up, talk to a lady there, and she tells me what's happened.

So I ask if she could try it again. She tries my credit card again, and it works fine, and she's puzzled as to why it didn't work before. Complete the transaction, everything's fine. Get my credit card bill, the accidental refund and the subsequent re-charge are there.

Credit card bill comes the next month, and there's a charge on there for DeepDiscountDVD. This freaks me out because I thought someone stole my credit card info on the site and bought stuff. I call DDD and they look at it, and had charged me AGAIN for the dvd. So I tell them that I had cleared that up a month ago and had my credit card statement to prove it. They said they didn't have a record of a transaction on the date of the recharge. So after arguing for a while, they say that I have to contact my credit card company.

So I call my credit card company, and after trying to explain it all they give me a credit on my credit card and do their own investigation. My next statement comes soon. Whether the charge is on there or not, I'm calling and asking about it.

So basically, I'm getting screwed because I tried to be an honest guy.

EDIT: Just had to add this... Not one time during all the phone calls and emails did anyone thank me for my honesty or acknowledge that I could have screwed them but didn't. I was just them telling me what to do.

UPDATE:

Called my credit card company, and they told me that they received a report from DDD about the incident and they did not provide sufficient information that they had not already been paid, so my credit card company took their money back. :applause:
No good deed goes unpunished.

Sorry for your aggravation though.
That's true. Thanks.
it sucks, but mistakes are bound to happen, I have had 2 problems with ddd and they have both worked out fine.
I hope this turns out ok. Just makes me mad because they don't even have a record of my calling back to give them my CC# again. Shouldn't they have written that down in their computers or something?

Yeah man, it hurts enough doing the right thing, not to mention getting slammed for it. I didn't get one of the things I ordered from the wherehouse.com sale, and when they gave me a refund, they refunded the entire order (~$100) instead of the one item (~$13). I corrected them and it sucked losing $87, so I can only imagine what it'd be like to get screwed over for doing it.

Oh yeah. I forgot to add something else that really irritated me.

Not one time did they thank me or even acknowledge that I was doing the right thing. Not once in all the phone calls or emails did anyone say thank you for being honest and not trying to screw us over. Thank was nice of you. We would have had no idea, but you were honest anyway. Nope, it was just them telling me what to do.

well I just wanted to say thank you for being honest person. Next time try not to be too honest and you can just send the dvd to me and we will split the cost on the first dvd you purchased.

:D You're so generous.
It costs them more to arrange a return then for you to just keep it. So just keep it next time, unless they charge you for it.
Then they should have told me that! I would have gladly kept it. I was hoping they'd say something like that and just tell me to keep it.
:D You're so generous.
I try I just feel bad for you. Luckily I know someone that didn't have to go through the same trouble you went through. But good luck and my offer to you still stands.
Wow... how low has society fallen when doing the right thing is out of of the norm and people want to be congratulated for doing it.
Don't get me wrong. I don't want to be congratulated or anything like that. I just don't want to be ordered around like it was my fault on top of taking a shitload of time out of my day because of their mistake. I shouldn't have to clean up their mistakes. And I wouldn't have cared as much if they hadn't charged me again and then act like it's my fault. That's why I bring the point up of no appreciation for it, because they've been seemingly unappreciative for me doing something for them.

i know ur trying to be honest but if ddd gave it to you by mistake, you have a right to keep it without u being charged twice.
