8-6-10 Update
The first is that Batman: Arkham City will feature Nathan Hale! That is right! Rocksteady has stolen the PlayStation 3's Resistance icon and forced him to make an appearance in the next Batman game. All kidding aside, the voice actor behind Nathan Hale, Mr. David Kaye, has confirmed that he is doing voice work for the new game. Internet speculation has him playing every character so far confirmed and rumored for the game. Keep in mind it is a bit difficult to typecast Mr. Kaye's voice. He may have done Nathan Hale, but he also did Clank from Ratchet & Clank.

Speaking about voice work, the writer for Arkham City was kind enough to leak absolutely nothing to MTV about the game but did confirm that it is well into development. Mr. Paul Dini was the lead writer for Arkham Asylum and has continued through with his work as lead writer for Arkham City. Those that may have reservations about the game, that it could not even keep up to par with its previous story telling capabilities should breath a little sigh of relief.

When asked how far into development they were:

We're well on our way through production. We're doing recordings all this week here in Los Angeles. I actually have to go over to some of the recordings later this week. It's all sounding great and it's looking terrific.

Shame he couldn't say who was doing what. Give us something to gnaw on for awhile. Oh, bugger, Dini did have this to say if you want hints on the story for the sequel.

The more we got into developing the first game, we were like, 'Hey, let's do this. Let's put in this clue for the second one.' At that point we were pretty sure we were doing a sequel at some point.
I guess I will be dragging out my copy and scouring it for clues, in detective mode.

Anything that got cut from the first game that he wished had made it? That may make an appearance in Arkham City?
There were some ideas we had for the exteriors. Some fights we would have outside [the asylum] and perhaps a little more Batmobile action.

Keep it here for more information, as it develops.
Im surprisd that I still havent played Batman:AA for long. I got it for like $11 more than a year ago, but I ended trading it in to Gamestop during the promos. Hopefully the game drops in price again before the sequel comes out

Still haven't played Batman AA either (couldn't get into the demo), but for Harley Quinn, well...

Also, Arnie needs to voice Mr Freeze.

Batman:AA wasn't even released more than a year ago. It released towards the end of August '09. How the heck did you get it for $11 before release date?

I remember it being pretty cheap at different locations in the Sam's Club Thread.

I got it for 9.99 at Sam's months ago and traded it in after beating it and hearing the GOTY edition was coming. Ended up getting $30.00 for it and some odd PS2 game I don't remember. I need a cheap price on GOTY so I can have all the challenge maps.

Here is the official website for the OP.

States Fall 2011 release. Too far!!! :(

I had beat everything in the game except a hard difficulty run through. I had been saving that for the new TV. Looks like I have a reason to finish it off now, I need a fix before this game comes out. I hope they keep the Challenge sections, they were maddening at times but so worth it. I'll have to download the paid DLC and play those too.
Man, joker looks like he went through hell (or cancer) in the video
It looks to be not long after the end of Arkham Asylum. He got his face kicked in pretty good.

Anyway, here's another link for the OP if you want it MVP.

Looks like they are going to do a series of reveals. I can't wait. Did anyone get the new Game Informer magazine? It's supposed to have a multi-page article on the new game.

This will likely be a rare $60 purchase for me, unless there is a deal somewhere. I only buy one, maybe two games a year at launch these days, but this one should be worth it.

Batman AA was just that damn good.

i hope they serve mr freeze justice. i remember looking at his frozen jail cell in AA and being like sweeeeeeet. im actually playing through AA again on hard, havent played sense i beat it last september. such a good game. this will be a day 1 purchase no question.

Excited for this. Love AA, the free flow combat is awesome. I'm gonna go through that game again. So good.

I picked it up cheap back when Sam's Club dropped it down. ($11? $13?) Played for a bit and enjoyed it, but, I got sidetracked by other stuff. I had grabbed a second copy for a friend of mine, and he was breezing right through it (and mentioning how great it was). Got me motivated to pick it back up and finish.

So, I am very excited for this one. I'll prolly use some YF360 credits on it.
Shouldn't this be in the general gaming thread since it's multi-platform?
I don't even know what to say to this... You have been around for 4 years and haven't noticed any sort of trend yet?

Nightwing and Huntress better make a cameo or be Co-op characters. I just hope the Co-op (if there is any) will be something unique and outside of the game's actual story.
It should be in GG, but that doesn't happen much around here. :(
How do you figure? Different systems get different versions and different material a lot of time, or have different problems.

Just look at Batman AA for PS3/360, MW2 for 360/PS3, and those are just two off the top of my head. Not to mention how different PC versions are from PS360 versions.

I've noticed that threads in specific console forums tend to get more attention and replies.

This is the one game I got all 1000 achievement points on, and it was hard too, those last challenge maps were intense. Cant wait for the next one.

I'm worried that Arkham City might be too big. Arkam Asylum had a great, tightly-knit package that made it really unique compared to the usual superhero game genre which was always 'big open world.'

Was reading the latest copy of GI, and in their "Good, Bad, and Ugly" section, they ran a small piece about the lack of multiplayer being "bad." I really don't get it. How many really great games need to come out this generation before people give up on the whole "every game needs MP" argument?

yeah I dont want multiplayer in it although I would be okay with co op but dont want anything else (stupid acheviements or trophies)

As for no multiplayer: HURRAY!
No shit. I'm sick of dev's thinking that mp in an sp driven game is necessary. IT'S NOT!
