I am currently using the panasonic batteries the wii mote comes with, and noticed as I was getting out of zelda last night that wii mote is on the last dot of battery, I figure I must have gotten somewhere between 25 to 30 hours out of them, but I don't know how much time is dot in teh meter is average worth. Is this odd? the batteries I got with my Wavebirds last year have are still going so far after about a year of moderate use.

I noticed this as well. I have gone through 2 battery changes on Zelda alone. I think the type of battery might make a difference as well (i.e. cheap Kmart battery vs. Duracell).

Yes, the Wiimote is a battery hog. Think about all that it is doing and it makes sense:

- Bluetooth communication with the Wii
- Rumble
- Speaker
- Accelerometers
- LED light

That is a lot of stuff for a controller to be doing. Get a set of rechargeables or the new Nyko charge kit that is coming out and you'll be good to go.

Yeah, I believe that Reggie said before launch that the battery life wouldn't be nearly as good as the wavebird. There's a lot more information going both ways with the Wiimote as opposed to one way with the Wavebird.

I changed twice for the TP as well. Great game. I hope Nintendy releases a battery pack like the 360.

Thanks just makeing sure this is norm, I was planning on getting rechargables just wasn't planning on haveing to go to some walmart/kmart type place and get aggravatted by the mindless mongoloids that use these said places as social centers so soon....ha ha ha. was figureing I was going to get 2~3 months from the batteries, because I try to get atleast a 3 month list of stuff that you would go to those places for, outside of CAG good deals that force a CAG to go ASAP.:D

I got a little more than 30 hours, total, out of my set of "out of the box" batteries..mostly playing Zelda.

I'm heading to Walmart, this weekend, to buy a set of rechargables. :)

I get about 17-20 out of my rechargables (2700 mah energizer). I think they only last that long as they screw up the battery meter as they show up at 3/4 power as soon as you put them in after a fresh charge.

Oh well, still cheaper and more convenient that using regular batteries.

with $10 off google checkout, there are some options at buy.com

elsewhere, Hybrio is a brand to look at, because it holds its charge far longer than most rechargeables (something important 3-6 months down the line and when you want to have fully charged batteries on hand)
The charger you use also makes a difference, maha is a good make.

I'm on my third set of batteries (first set was the Panasonic ones, and the next two sets were Duracells.) I got my Wii on the 17th of December, so I guess that isn't too bad... but I'll definitely need to get some rechargeables when I get a second controller.
I'm on my second set of batteries for my Wiimotes... the first set died from just sitting in a shoebox for a few weeks.
My second Wiimote actually had the same thing happen. I think something was on top of the Wiimote in the box that was causing one of the buttons to be held down. If that happens, it will constantly try to find a Wii. It's probably better to just takes the batteries out of the Wiimote if you are not going to use it for a while.
