battery life on wiimote

zatos

CAGiversary!
Anyone know the expectancy of life on the batteries? Didn't see it in the FAQ there...

Just curious whether or not the upcoming recharge pack is worth purchasing...

thanks

It is a good question, but I would assume battery quality would play into it a little. I've got some energizer batteries in there and I play about an hour a day and I don't see the battery meter moving yet.

You can be sure that the rechargable packs won't last as long as regular alkaline AAs, but that's not really the point behind them.

I use regular AAs (because I bought about 80 not too long ago) and they last me probably around 30 hours or so, depending on how long the play sessions are.

turning down the volume on the annoying ass speaker in the wiimote will helpo extend battery life a little.

I'd say on average I get about 20-25 hours out of a set of Duracells.

Rechargable Energizers work pretty well although you start seeing funky behavior at about 2 bars left on the battery life meter.

You can snag 8 of these (+4 AAAs) at Sam's Club for ~$25.
Alternatively you can get 4AA & 4AAA & the recharger for the same price.

Yes, you can expect your batteries to last around 25 hours. I would reccomend cheap alkaline batteries, or one of those new wiimote charger stands.
25 hours? No way. I've got that in already and I'm not even noticing a drop on the battery meter.
I think a lot of it has to do with how much time is spent with each session too (and the accuracy of the battery meter, you'll probably see it drop fast whenever it decides to drop), since you play in 1 hour spurts it probably lasts longer than a lot of us that had 2-3 or more hour sessions with zelda :p.

energizer rechargables last forever, again depending on how much you play. I play a little bit every day to every other day, i haven't had to recharge the batteries in a few weeks. i recommend those for sure.

thanks
No the rechagable battery pack is not worth the money. Simply enough that is $30, and made by a third party. Do you really want to trust a third party with batteries? Just go do the right thing and pay $20 for rechargables since they are cheaper for the battery pack and they are made by energizer or duracell or one of those companies, a brand you can trust.

My problem is that those damn skins are so hard to get off and whenever I have to change the batteries its a pain. I was hoping for a nice solution where I could just stick the wii remote on something to charge instead of ripping off the skin everytime. Of course I'll only get it at a much discounted price lol

I'd go with this man's advice. Plus you can use rechargable AAs in anything that takes them. This is what I'll do whenever I finally run out of AAs.

The only question is one of convenience: do you want to actually remove the batteries and put them in a charger? If not, then you can get a third party pack and place the remote on a charger instead.

Made by a third party is bad? A third party to whom? Energizer and Duracell are third parties to Nintendo, no different than the battery packs.

Go buy the recharable battery packs, it sounds like what you want. This guy here probably grew up a little rich kid and only likes Energizer, Tommy Hillfiger, Prada, and dosent like us common folk much.

You're part right; it depends on what game you play. I believe Nintendo estimates 30 hours for games that use the Wiimote's camera (i.e. Zelda), and 60 hours for games that just use the accelerometers (i.e. Excite Truck). If you play some of both it'll be somewhere in between.

Just watch what Mah batteries you are getting. I have 2300 and 2500 and have even seen 1800 mah Energizer rechargables. Externally they all looked the same.

I use rechargable Duracell batteries, and I get from 25-30 hours each charge.

The amount of power used depends on how the remote is being used. For example, more power is used when the Wii Remote is being used as a pointer.

All I can say is they last a lot less than I thought they would.
Looks like rechargeables is the way to go here.

Sounds good. Actually thanks for the sense, the last Nyko product I bought was a completely stupid waste of good money. It was a base fan for a PS1 to reduce overheating, but it blew IN air instead of sucking out. Retarded. Maybe I should go buy that Energizer rechargeable battery kit, the one for digital cameras. I need some for my digital camera too, anyway.

I've had my Wii for nearly a month now and am just about done with the original batteries that came with the system. I don't play nearly as much as some people do, though.

I bought TWO 24 packs of Rayovac AA batteries for around $12 at Target on sale.

It depends on whether you have the speaker volume on loudly and have rumble on and how the games you play uses them. Play Madden and it drains really fast because it rumbles constantly. My experience is around 20 hours or so.
