Big maps, big vehicles, and big weapons equal big fun. Hot swapping is a riot.

Not bad looking for a game of considerable scope. HUD items basic but easy to decipher.

An impressive audio presentation from start to finish, spearheaded by a great voice acting/dialog section.

If you can’t spend a gratuitous amount of time playing the Conquest mode, then you’re probably not that big of a FPS fan.

The right way to bring a PC series to the Xbox.

here is there wrap-up

IGN's Ratings for Battlefield 2: Modern Combat (Xbox)
RatingDescription out of 10click here for ratings guide
7.0Presentation
There aren't enough multiplayer or singleplayer options (skirmish mode, advanced server configurations, offline multiplayer, etcetera). But the solo game uses a slick briefing and scoring system.
8.5Graphics
A terrific sense of scale and lots of environment detail and activity are only marred by some overblown, blurry filters.
8.5Sound
If only the main 1942 theme played all the time. Despite that, the music is still very good and the sound effects are clear and meaty.
8.0Gameplay
Sometimes the shooting can feel unbalanced and clunky, but BF's approachability is unrivaled in console gaming. It also adds the legitimately cool hot swap feature to FPS gaming.
9.0Lasting Appeal
Multiplayer needs more modes and a greater emphasis on objective-based play, but the team oriented gaming is peachy. The big singleplayer mode is also a nice bonus.
8.5OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

and here are some videos the walkthroughs are great

Hope this helps :bouncy:

There's no way I'm getting this game for a while..probably not until the (hopefully fixed) 360 version comes out. Why? One reason: YOU CAN'T CONTROL ANY OF THE ONLINE SERVERS. With no option to host, choose the maps, kick annoying kids, set any rules, and probably no way to arrange a party for a group of friends...why would you play this game online? They should just go ahead and do the shooting for me.

Comes out just in time for the buy two get one free sale at Toys 'B' Fun. ;)

I got FarCry for all my multi-player goodness.

Downside: It's published by EA which means EA servers.

Bingo. Hit the nail on the head. The lack of ability to control servers completely killed the purchase for me. EA has successfully changed a strategic/clan game into a random team deathmatch game.

I agree with all the gripes (as I am baffled as to how/why EA thought that would be a good idea to give the players zero control over the servers), but I'll just cope with that by telling myself that BattleField 2 was the free title when I get it at Toys 'R' Us. ;o

thats just fucking stupid...shit, how could the developers possibly let the multiplayer be like that?

not true you can host clan servers things :bouncy:

uh, or not. They made it explicitly clear that you can NOT host ANY type of server in the review at IGN. You can create clans and make friends and whatnot, but you can NOT host any server. It even says that you cannot carry the actions over to LANs.

what?? I didn't know that shit!! Damn, now I don't knowif I want it. EA always make sit hard to get a game going with friends.

Yeah, I cancelled my Battelfield: MC pre-order after hearing about EA's dedicated servers being the only option. It would be a complete waste of money at this point... bummer.

anyways bounced the credit over to RE4:CE (PS2) so I'm still happy.

Today's the day some if not most game stores (EB, Gamestop) should have the game in. I cant wait to pick it up today at Gamestop.

NO LAN!?!?! Are you serious, why would they do that?

Ahh EA, I used to support you against all the Anti-Madden sentiment but between this and the $10 price increase on Burnout Revenge, your making it very difficult.

I loveeeeeee this game...All I can say is WOW...THis and The Warriors out at the same time...Its like christmas around here :)

The game is a blast, sadly it doesn't seem that EA fixed some of the bugs from the demo, I still get kicked or the game crashes on a regular basis.

is it worth the hassel? I know with this years madden, my friend and I play a game, and when we go to start another one it won't let us connect that we ended up giving up...

Picked it up, it's not what I hoped, but it's still pretty fun. The single player is surprisingly fun, but there isn't much depth to it. Me and my friend had a blast with the demo, but then again we just TKed everyone with the helicopter as much as we could. I think we'll probably keep up that trend...

And here I was thinking that playing on public servers wouldn't be so bad and I might actually pick it up this weekend. Thanks for setting my mind straight.
7.3 from GameSpot.
Wow, that's a swift kick in the nuts.

Haha I was just kidding, we made a pact not to TK once the real game came out. I think I'll actually play because I want rank. But if I'm on Backstab, and the chopper is in my posession, I don't know if I can contain myself. The new maps are decent (from what I've played) and I imagine it still has the same "vote to boot" function that the demo did. With all of that said, I wish I would have waited for this to go to $30 and pick up Star Wars: Battlefront II instead.

Tried over and over again and was finally able to play a game (stupid EA servers). Was pretty decent from what I've played. Cant hold a candle to the PC version though.

Well I kept at it yesterday and hit a streak of about 5 games in a row before it crashed. During those games i had a blast. I'd hope that they'd work the bugs out of the server issues soon, so yeah, I'm still holding my breath. I don't know what they were thinking, the same thing happened in the demo version, this was such a known issue, to ship it the game full of bugs makes me feel like a rube for buying it.

IGN gave it an 8.X (5 maybe?), the single player is pretty fun, but c'mon multiplayer is what this game is for.

Picked it up at the TRU sale. Havn't logged on the mp yet but sp is fun. I love hot-swaping!!!

There's some good news and there's some bad news (nope, it aint Geico).

Good news: EA released a patch today and it seems to fix the freezing problems.

Bad news: Lag!!! Kinda irks me, you're in the middle of a firefight when all of a sudden it lags like hell. But at least I dont have to keep reseting the game just to play.

I finally played this today. It was ok...not great, but not bad. It just seemed kinda boring almost. There was maybe 8-10 people, so the match moved slowly. Maybe it'll get better

Good game lag sucks but there is a 2nd patch out soon, also it takes a few hours of playing to get into it at first I thought it was trash... (and 3-4 of the maps are poo its all snipers but the rest are fun) snipers get annoying when the enemy uses only snipers (I'll edit grammer soon)

Well, I played it more...does it get better? The single player seems ok, but multiplayer seems average. I mean, it was lagging out with 4-6 players....that is just unacceptable, especially since they are EA servers.

Since the patch I've been in many 20+ people games with only a few with any serious lag issues. Personally I love this game, it's my HALO killer, I mean I haven't touched HALO since the demo for this came out. Massive levels, great vehicles, fast, frenzied at times combat, actual strategy, it's got everything I need for the foreseeable future.

I wonder if I'll keep this game once Star Wars:BF2 comes out. I know they are different, but I'm thinking I may just want my money back from this....I'll give it a more extensive look again tonight.
