Okay, I just got back home from my parent's house and while I was there I ordered some games and stuff. One thing I ordered from BestBuy.com was Freedom Fighters and I was happy that I had gotten it since I've been wanting it. Well, it seemed to take a little longer than I had hoped it would. As I had ordered it on the 28th of December and still haven't gotten it. Well, at least I haven't gotten it.

Now, I went down to the office for the apartment complex I live in since I got a slip that I had 2 packages that were left there. It actually had my name written on it, as well as what's usually on it. I went and to my disappointment that it was only one package for my roommate. Earlier, as I had gotten one of these yesterday, but didn't get my mail until after the office was closed. I came back with that slip before I went with the other one I had, and picked up my luggage(2 pieces) that was mailed since they couldn't go with me from home.

I'm thinking the mailman either wrote the wrong slips or the people at the office grabbed the wrong packages for what the actual slips were for. After I saw what BB had on my tracking I went back and explained the situation and they looked carefully for this "supposedly" delivered package, which wasn't anywhere to be found. They told me that maybe they had tried to deliver it to my apartment, and since I wasn't home, maybe they took it back to the Post Office.

The tracking on their website says this:

Your Postal Carrier delivered your package to the delivery address provided.

I'm just wondering if bestbuy.com delievers the packages to your house/apartment or just puts them in your mailbox? Since I don't physically have it here, could they have put it in the wrong mailbox(I noticed the normal mail truck wasn't there, it was a minivan instead) or have tried to take it to some other apartment even though it should have my address on the label. I'm planning on going to the post office tomorrow to bust some heads and get some answers about what's going on with my stuff and it's whereabouts. Anyone have experience with any part of my problem? Sorry about the big long post, but I'd rather give any info I can so there's no info that I could leave out.

In a roundabout way, I've had that problem. My mailman just leaves stuff from BB in the box or at the apartment office if it's too big for the box. If nothing shows up after a few days, you might call them and ask if they've received it back, as it will go back to their DC if it was delivered to the wrong address and someone put it back in the mail.

In my personal experience with ordering a game from BB.com, it was put in my mailbox via my postman.

This really doesn't have anything to do with BB's "delivery system". This is a post office/apartment rental office issue. Once it is picked up by USPS, BB doesn't really have any say in what happens to it, unless USPS returns it to them.

This was a giant pain in the ass with my post office and the stuff I was ordering from EB, GS, etc. They ruined two guides I ordered from EB.com and for a while, they wouldn't deliver anything to my residence that didn't fit into my mailbox, leaving me a slip to pick it up. After a few weeks of that crap, they sorted it out.

If it was small enough to fit into my mailbox (usually only something DVD-sized and one of them) would be put into my mailbox. If there's more than one item, or one item that won't fit in my mailbox, they deliver it to my front door, which is about 30 feet from my mailbox.

Depending on how your carrier is, they may have just delivered it to the wrong apartment. What was it, a single game, multiple games?

If it was a single game, chances are that it was in a small padded envelope, and tossed into the wrong mailbox. If it was more than an envelope's worth, it may have been put in front of someone else's door.

When you check with the post office, check with the delivery supervisor and have them check with the carrier that delivered your mail on the 5th. It might have been someone other than your normal carrier, who didn't know where your apartment was in relation to your mailbox, or just didn't know where your apartment is. The carriers get rotated around a bit, so it might have been someone new. The key is to call the local carrier office, or go there in person, check with the delivery supervisor (I think that's the title my local office uses) and have them check specifically with the carrier who did your mail that day.

Yeah, it was a single game. That's the day when I got back and I had mail held, which I got two games from Gamefly, my roommate had a DVD, and a bunch of other mail. The thing is they aren't really supposed to deliver to our apartment. If it won't fit in the mailbox, they drop it off at the office before and leave me a note that says that they left it with the manager. So, I'll make sure to talk to the delivery supervisor and see what's up with this. Should I print out the page saying it was delivered to show them?

Print out a copy of the order form from BB.com and print out the tracking information, as well as any order information that BB.com sent via email.

Take all of that with you to the post office, since that'll show worth of the package, the shipping date and tracking #, and the USPS info showing it was delivered.

Okay, I'll make sure to print those out and get some answers as to where my package is. Thanks for the help.

UPDATE:

The post office wasn't as nice, the carrier for the area said he had dropped it off at the office, which I know for a fact that it's not there nor was it ever there. But, the manager for the apartments is pretty much willing to do as much as he can to help us get it back. He's going to contact two apartments which could've gotten it, as well as, contact another apartment community that they occasionally get mail from and vice versa. Hopefully, one or the other got it accidentally and we get word of it on Monday. Somebody made a mistake and I'm damn sure gonna make sure I find out where, how, and who made the mistake.

Ok, time to update. I e-mailed BestBuy.com about the missing delivery and they offered to either reship it or refund the money. I chose to get it reshipped even though it's probably backordered, but I already have a used copy, so I can wait.

I'll be heading to the office tomorrow to see what they've found out about my package, though there's a package waiting for me, so that might be it. I'll post an update tomorrow about what's at the office or what they've found out about my package's whereabouts.

EDIT: Just got an e-mail that BB had it in stock and reshipped it already, so it should get here in a few days if all goes well.

The package was just some games I bought from Stealthy, but if I ever do get the lost package and this reshipped one, I'll hold a contest to give it away.

I got an e-mail from BB yesterday that says FF shipped yesterday, and the tracking says it'll be here tomorrow. Though it also mentions my card getting charged:

The items listed below have shipped on 01/18/2005. Your credit card has now been charged for the shipped items.

I want to see how much is on my card, but there's nothing online that'll let me see it. I'll probably have to find an ATM and see how much is on it.
