BB RZ Deals 02/22/09 - 02/28/09: Mercs 2 $9.99 / RB2 $39.99 (both 360)
I was actually considering the iPhone deal in my head for a while. In the end, I kept thinking that I'd end up cracking the screen in my pocket, dialing random people in my pocket, or just not liking it as much as my current phone.
As an iphone user:

1. The screen is tough, very tough. Unless you drop it on concrete you're probably not goign to break it.

2. Dialing random people from your pocket is impossible due to the way the phone sleeps, and the recessed "on" button.

3. As for not liking it, I'm not a huge supporter of apple, but I love my iphone. Most convenient device I've ever owned, and I would find it impossible to go back to a "normal" mobile.

Out of curiosity, where do you all find these deals? I am a reward zone member, but as I have recently only been buying games via BBV/GS credit, I havent gotten any reward certificates or even mailings much lately. Can, for example, this Merc 2 deal be found on the website (in the Reward Zone members area)? And if so, how do you view it?
Thanks in advance.
hows Mercs 2 online alot of people still playing?
I'd say this sale all but assures online players for the next few weeks. Just remember that it's an EA game and they can concievelbly pull online support at any time.

Yet another game for me! Mercs 2 it is.

Just got my xbox a couple of weeks ago from the Conn's deal (we're now a triple console family). Already I have 4 games for it because of CAG deals!

Left 4 Dead - $40 Target deal
Mass Effect - Gamestop used (been waiting to play this game for a long time, and it's not disapointing at all. Sequel looks good).
Forza 2 - $10 Walmart deal.
Mercs 2 - $10 from BB.

Well, 5 if you include Sonic Tennis. :)
I really think people are making these deals MUCH too hard.

They're programmed into the register. There is no work involved here. Anyone who needs a price override is being impatient and not letting the system do its thing, or has some issue with their RZ account. Seriously, you shouldn't need a printout or anything. Just be an RZ member. Don't even go up to the cashier saying "0mg!gimmefor10bux!!!!" and then skulk away when they scan it for $29.99... just give them the game and your RZ card... don't scan your credit card or give them cash til they hit total and the price drops... Pay and you're out.

If you want to take a printout to fall back on, it's not a bad idea, but I have never had one of these not work right, especially the "all RZ member" ones.. the Premiere ones can be a bit trickier because of their system being braindead about who is Silver and who isn't, but this one is easy.
Totally agree. Infact, I'm pretty sure a message even pops up on their screen explaining the reward zone special (or at least I think it did when I bought Haze for $10 not to long back). You shouldn't even need an ad to back it up.

Just snagged a copy of Mercs 2 - cashier started to ask me for $30-something until she scanned my Reward Zone card and had to correct herself. $10.86 after tax - I love the smell of sticker shock in the morning.

Thanks OP!

Ugh...swaying my decision are we?

Number 2 is convincing enough for me.

Number 1 I would naturally disagree with since the pressure between my leg and pocket has broken some of the weirdest things (ripped a stick of gum in half).

And number 3 I have no say on because I don't own anything Apple. I just know that I love my phone, aside from yesterday when it decided to open up Media Player in my pocket during class. Thankfully it was muted.
ummm can i get 2 copies of Merc? One for me and one for friend?
In two different transactions it should work. It has in the past for similar RZ deals.

On my way to BB to get Mercs 2 XB360 today, I dropped by Target and found the PS3 version for $9.98. So Target got my business instead.

To add to his Number 2... it is impossible for the phone to start randomly dialing numbers since the screen only recognizes a fingerprint. No object (stylus or anything) can push buttons on the screen.
Is the simpsons game any good??
I rented it a couple of months ago, and it wasn't too bad, and for $10 bucks I think it's worth it.

I picked up Mercs 2 using my Rewards Card. Also picked up Orange Box.

These new reward zone deals are great something BB should have done a LONG time ago.

Is this a universal price drop?

No, Target just has it on clearance. Every other stores has Mercenaries 2 at $29.99.

Went into my local Best Buy today, luckily I printed out the offer in case of a problem. Took the cashier and manager 15 minutes to try to find the ad on their own website (which they never did). Did finally get the deal but it amazes me that even with a printout from their own site and a deal that they emailed me, they still were skeptical of honoring the deal...

Did you just take it to the register with your RZ card, have them scan game + card, and press Total? Did it not go down to $10 after that?

Or did you go up and ASK about the deal (which admittedly no one knows about inside the stores) causing 15 minutes of confusion for all involved?

You shouldn't have needed to go through any of that. It's all automatic. Really.

The thing that kind of weirded me out when I did this is that he scanned my RZ card first, then the game, and the game still came up as $30 at first. I think he had to hit something to signal that nothing else was being scanned, then it took the $20 off, and the screen I saw quickly has some "Yes/No" confirmation for the deal.

I don't know if some cashiers are seeing that screen and freaking out, or if some people are scanning the game, their card, and still seeing $30 because the cashier didn't take the transaction all the way through to the end.

Bringing a copy of the website should really eliminate any possible confusion, but worst case scenario, go through the whole transaction, and if you end up paying $30, just take it right back. Point being, taking it through the entire transaction should auto trigger the price savings, and if it doesn't, well, they did something stupid and you'll need to talk to customer service, and if they continue to give you a hard time, just get your money back and pick it up used from GS when it hits this price. Can't be too long before it happens...

Awesome deal -- I picked mine up yesterday no prob at all -- even used my RZ certs towards it so I got it for free. Just wish I jumped in when they had Haze for $9.99

So how is Mercs 2? My backlog is huge but damn it's hard to pass up a $10 game! Except it'd be $20 for me, as I'd have to get a copy for a buddy of mine too for co-op.

You didn't miss anything by missing Haze, really. I got it and wish I hadn't. I feel like I wasted $10 on it, and I'll buy anything for $10.

Had a stroke of luck today. Picked up Mercs 2 + the guide for $10 even. Only the second time i've ever seen a guide stickered at .01 cent.

I've taken advantage of the Mercs 2 deal, I was this *Holds two fingers close together* close to buying it for $25 over Gamefly.

Thank you!

Nope, scanned card and game. Definitely didn't come up automatically unfortunately. Like I said luckily I had the ad printed out so it just was a wait then they finally got a manager to come override the price.

Well, I finally gave in and got Mercs 2. The store had at least 6 or 7 copies, maybe more in back. As expected, I went to the register, they scanned the game, then my reward zone card, a pop-up came up on their screen, they hit a key, and the total dropped to 9.99 + tax. No problems whatsoever.

This was definitely an impulse buy, so I may have just wasted $10, but thanks to the OP either way for pointing the deal out because I never check the Best Buy reward zone site. Hopefully it's a decent game for $10 though.

it was an impulse buy as well, but im having fun. the minor annoyances aren't as bad since it's only 10 bucks, so the fun outweighs it.

im picking it up, wow for $10. 00. thanks & ive rented the game it's not that bad, it's pretty cool & fun & you can't beat that with a bat for $ ten bucks!! :0)

Went to pick up my $9.99 Mercs today with my $10 rewards coupon. Apparently you have to spend at least the amount of the certificate so $9.99 wasn't enough. Needless to say I was a little disappointed. I turned around looking for a pack of gum or something to bring my total over $10 and what do I see? A pennied out Mercs 2 guide. Put them together, total was $10 even, and walked out the door. Got to love a free game and guide!

I picked this one up this evening and there were several copies still sitting there on the 360 shelf. The cashier said he knew about it before it rang up for $10 and that he planned to pick one up for a friend before the store closed tonight.

was it actually marked as 1 penny or did you just have a hunch it would ring up that way?

LOL, that's too damn perfect. Straight out of the A Team - "I love it when a plan comes together..."

Nabbed the last Mercs 2 from the Best Buy closest my home. Just played an hour's worth; definitely worth ten bucks.

Picked up Mercs 2 and the guide for $10.77. It was funny because the cashier got confused when the guide rang up for a penny because she claimed she sold the same guide to someone earlier that day for $19.99. Lmao because they have been pennied since like 2.2.09.
was it actually marked as 1 penny or did you just have a hunch it would ring up that way?
It was marked 19.99 with 75% off but the lady actually said it was free. Thanks to CAG I knew they pennied out the guides so I asked if she would try to ring it up. Bingo!

I swear my local Best Buy is the worst. I went to get this today, and there was not a single copy on the shelves. Upon closer inspection, I noticed there wasn't even a divider for it, and I know they had copies last week. I grabbed a blue shirt and lo and behold they showed 20 copies in-store. He went in the back and found me a copy, and I purchased it without issue, but really, why should I have go through that trouble? This store is notorious for pulling things that are deals like this. I think they figure the average person isn't going to ask, so they won't have to sell at a low price. This is a store that STILL has clearance stuff from before Xmas because they refuse to mark it down. They get to buy 1 get 1 50% off and thats it.

Picked up Mercs 2 yesterday, great deal at $10. Really enjoying it.

I finally got around to getting a copy of Mercs 2 today. Madison, WI location on the west side still had a ton of them.
