I am about to buy the Cannon Camera

for my dad as a going away gift when he leaves for Costa Rica next week.
Because of the tropical nature of the country, I am considering getting him the warranty plan. I am considering either the normal wear and tare OR the accidental dropping plan. The first one was like 40 and the second one was 80 or so. Since he is going into a country that it's raining or humid most of the time, I think he might have some moisture build up in the camera as time goes on and eventually the camera will break down.
So my question is, how good are the warranties at bb these days for Digital Cameras? I am sure he's not going to drop it but I want to be sure that when he comes back to the states, it doesn't break down months later due to constant exposure to the elements. Which warranty am I look for?
